I don't have much of an opinion on this, but just curious why he purposely refers to the KBB value when he's asking about $4k over it  :-D

I wouldnt.  They are nice and all but I wouldnt buy one unless I could afford it as a summer queen with the Sti as my all year round car.  Id never buy an older porsche though either....

^ This.

Or if you're addicted to it, you can mod it and become a complete asshole on SupraForums for fun.
Either way, it's not like you're going to lose money on the deal.  Someone else would probably jump head over heels for a Supra.
Just be sure to take as many mods off the STi as possible, so they aren't getting too many freebies.

I don't have much of an opinion on this, but just curious why he purposely refers to the KBB value when he's asking about $4k over it  :-D

Because he wants to fit in, w/ what Subaru guys do when selling their cars.   :-X

I'm still not quite sure why people think this would be some extraordinarily easy to sell car, after Fred is done w/ it.  I'm on literally, about 15 different car message boards (sad, I know), and I don't see cars like this moving nowadays.  It takes a special person.  I'll refer again to the fact that this man is trading you his car that is "worth"  $XX, for a car worth significantly less.  That tells me personally, that he's having a hard time moving it.  If it was otherwise, he'd have $38,000 in his hands, and could go buy a used STi w/ $10k left over to play with....  Bueller ?

I agree with you to an extent... but he would have to lose big time to make this not trade off.

SupraForums.  Land of the sack-riders.  Kind of like NASIOC these days.  He could sell that car in a heartbeat, especially an unmolested twin turbo.

I wonder if the current owner is on there, w/ a FS ad up.

Then you've CLEARLY never worked on one.  They are an absolute BITCH to work on.  One example?  To change plugs, you have to remove:
• Turbos (depending)
• Intake Man. (Which is a multi-peice unit)
• Coil pack
• Throttle Body

Seriously, these things were designed to be built and then never touched.  Basically everything driveshaft up to the engine will require octople-jointed arms AND fingers, or 5 hours of work.

But, I'm a sucker for un-modded versions of these, so I would do it.  Then again, I have other cars around to fall back on.  If it were gonna be my DD, I wouldn't do it, especially if I planned on selling it later.

You wouldn't have to, the Supra itself would punish him for even attempting to drive it in snow.  Whoops I twitched, spin-slide-crash.  I have a friend with an '89, he tried it in the snow once.

Once.

He promptly went out and got a Corolla.

Fred, it sounds like you've kinda set yourself on it anyway, so will any of this matter?  Probably not. But that's fine.  If it's actually what you want that badly, you won't mind the trouble of working on it (at first anyway), and you ought to be able to unload it for more than you got it for, especially if you keep it as is.

But it won't be easy.  :buck2:

idk how accurate that is about a straight 6.....i had a 93 jaguar with a straight six making about 300hp everything was pretty easy to do on that and at the time i knew almost nothing about cars
