Temporary Sale. My mother-in-law got me and the wife tickets to the Daytona 500 this year and I need to come up with some money for the plane and hotel so I am doing a HUGE sale on all starters. Its more than I can post in here so PM me and I can get you the new price... this includes any price quotes I've given in the past... re-PM or email me with the car and I'll shoot you the new quote!!! Not sure how long I will run this for so make sure to get with me ASAP!!!

Now that I actually have a place to do them, I'll be selling and installing remote starters on the side. For those who don't know my background, I have roughly 7+ years installing. I worked at Circuit City's Install bay for 6 years, 4 of which I was the installation manager. I know my way around the 12 volt world and can do just about any car (although some cars are truthfully not work the hassle due to special electrical systems).
All listed prices apply to MOST vehicles and include parts and labor. I have picked up a new distributor and will be installing Compustar units. If you already have a starter, I can install that too (depending on brand... I don't even bother with crap products).

Compustar has great products with many upgrade-able options that don't require purchasing a completely new system. Upgrades include security systems, long range remotes, LCD and LED 2 way remotes, etc. The units include everything needed for an automatic and manual transmission. So if you get rid of one car and want to put it into another... you are not limited by the transmission!!! The manual transmission sequence is also one of the easiest sequences out there. Very few steps to do, and they match up pretty well to how you would normally exit your vehicle on a daily basis.

PM me with make, model, auto/standard, and any options you may want and I'll get back to you with a final price.

With this new distributor, I can usually have the parts same day or within a day or two.. No need to wait for shipping!!! I am available most weekdays after 4:00p and most weekends for the installation

Get your starter now before it really gets cold!!!

There are many other options as well as just the plain starter. I can do alarms, long range systems, window automation add-ons, etc. You just let me know what you want and I'll get a price together.

I also do just about any and all 12 volt related installations including (but not limited to) decks, amps, subs, HID's, foglights, etc. If its electrical, and its related to a car, I can probably do it.

Have you had any experience with the Viper SmartStart? Where you use your smartphone to start the car. I was wondering how good it is or what people think. So far I've only read that supposedly you can hack them. But up here I'm not really worried about it. We don't live in NYC.

Prices to install a Viper SmartStart system on a 2010 Toyota Tundra and/or 2007 Subaru Impreza. Both automatic. Do you have a distributor that has discounts on Viper products? If not I would supply the kit myself and just have it installed.

We can def. work something out. PM me the makes/models and I'll see what we can do!

I'm at work at the moment but I will look into all the above mentioned cars and get back to all of you. I do not have a distributor at the moment as this is just a small side thing I am doing for some extra cash. But if anyone knows someone that I could get in contact with please let me know (due to cost and how little I do comparitively, it isn't worth it for me to get a DBA or anything in that respect. Also, my house is deemed residential and I don't feel like dealing with all that crap... so this is just a small side gig)

@Tyler:

Would you be doing the Viper SmartStart full system (including the remote starter/alarm/etc) or just adding it as an add-on. I have not personally had any experience with them, but I have heard very mixed reviews on how well they actually work.

Both cars already have a remote for alarm system, and unlocking and locking doors. So just remote start is needed. I guess my question now is. Whats the difference between the SmartStart and Secure SmartStart. The Secure SmartStart is a couple hundred more. But the website doesn't seem to mention what the secure one has for security over the standard one. (And no I'm not referring to the GPS SmartStart. I don't need that).

I am not 100% sure on the Secure Smart Start as I have not dealt with the Smart Starts much at all. However just make sure that if you pick one up that you are getting the complete system, not just the module. Also, the smart starts all require the service plans in order to work (1 year for $49.99; 3 year for $119.99). It looks like if you were just looking to get the remote start and no security, you would want to VSS3000 model. If you wanted to go the security route then you would want the VSS5000 model.

I sent out a bunch of PM's !!!

Got it. Thanks man. I was just feeling it out. Not sure if I'm going to do it yet. Also looking into a company called CompuStar?

Compustar is another one of the few companies I would trust. They have very good equipment.

I have a galaxy remote start system, and about a month ago my battery went totally dead.  Ever since then,  the remote start doesn't work.  It will start the car, but it sounds like it keeps craning the starter..   Also since then,  when i  start my car with the key,  it auto locks all the doors,   when i turn the car off it will unlock.

Is this something that needs to be reprogrammed?

Thought I responded yesterday but apparently it never went through. It sounds like the main programming somehow got cleared. A simple dead battery should not have caused it, but anything is possible. I'm not very familiar with the galaxy starters, but you should be able to find a manual online that tells you how to program it.

The remote start will be made for a manual transmission which means you usually have to do a quick sequence to put the vehicle in "Ready" mode. Then if a door is opened in the meantime, Ready mode will have to be re-activated.

 Please explain this in more detail.  I must be missing something here.

Basically it is a quick sequence that ensures the car is in neutral and can not be started while in gear. In a nutshell its something like: Hold foot on brake, press remote start button (on remote), put car in neutral, engage ebrake, remove foot from brake pedal, turn off ignition (car will remain running), exit car, shut door. At that point the car will shut off either by itself or by pressing the lock button on the remote. However if the car door is ever opened it deactivates ready mode because it has no way of knowing if someone put the car in gear when the door was opened.

It seems like a pain, but in reality its nothing different than  you probably do now when you exit your car (with the exception of pressing the remote button to activate it). But it ensures that te car will never be accidentaly started while in gear and go driving away on its own. Yes it can happen... I've seen it happen and its pretty crazy.

I did and it seemed like a bitch.  When I say dead battery, this bitch was DEAD and she sat for a few days like that.  I'll probably just track down the guy who did it and throw him a few dollars.

As for those with manuals,   here is how mine works.

Stop the car,
put in N,
pull ebrake,
push button on remote to activate it.
Turn of key {car will keep running}
open drivers door to get out,  make sure everyone else gets out too.
The first instance of all doors closed,  the car shuts off and locks itself.  { you can program a time to wait to shut off as well... aka turbo timer feature}

When you remote start the car,  if you push the brake, undo the e-brake, {probably clutch too}  before putting the key in the ignition,  the car will shut off.

Sucky part is that if you open any of your doors {unsure of trunk},  it disables the remote start and you would have to re-set it again.  Basically so you can't jump in the car,  put it in drive, and then try starting it it later.  Also,  you have to "Set" the remote start process when all the doors are closed.  Sometimes passengers look at me weird as I sit in the car until they are out and close their door because they threw it open before I had a chance to set it.

Its quirky,  but you get used to it quickly.

It still shouldn't have unprogrammed. I've had a car sit for months and the r/s didn't lose its programming... I've also had starters sit in a drawer for a couple years, and upon re-installing it the programming is still good.

Just found out from the wifey that we are heading to Maine the day after Thanksgiving so it may have to be sometime during the week if you are going to be around long enough.

My brother is looking to have one installed in his 1996 Crystler concord. How much would he be looking to pay?
2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs wagon

1995 Subaru Brighton Rs (sold)
2002 Hyundai Accent (sold)
1999 Chevy Cavalier (sold to my brother)
1998 Subaru Legacy wagon (traded to Blackparis)
1997 Subaru Legacy (Parted out and crushed)
1999 Honda Civic (Wrecked)
Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Sorry, never realized you had responded... that car shouldn't need a bypass or anything special so he'd be looking at $150 installed.

Got 2 more getting done this weekend... get yours soon before it gets real cold out!!

Christmas / Holiday Special!!! Any starter ordered between now and Dec. 25th will get 10% off the total price!!! Remote starters make GREAT gifts and there is no need to wait til after the holidays to have it installed. If you can get the car for a few hours, I can install the starter and hide everything so that nobody will know its there. Then when the gift is given, just give the empty box or the remote and simply say "Press the button"!!! Get yours today!!!
