thanks! I agree it's gonna be sweet. I can't wait!

and they're off my old car with 3k miles on them and the tires and look decent IMO so I'm not complaining.

I really appreciate you going with a juicy na setup over a swap.  Gonna be cool when you're done.

I've never bent wheels to my knowledge.  I hit a giant pothole, between 6 and 7 inches deep, in my 3,600 pound baja with no-name cast aluminum 18's and extremely stiff coilovers and the wheels could not give less of a shit.  I did hit my head on the ceiling of the car though.

Nobody does wide 16's on these cars.  I had 16x8's on my lexus, they lend a real muscle car look with some 245's :-).

I like where you're going with... all of this.

I don't run 16's, but I run big 15's and even bigger 17's on my otherwise stock Impreza. You saw it. I like the look a lot more than the wide with no sidewall wheel/tire combo.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

so we finished her engine wise today...got the engine back in, and it idles like complete shit. but i was expecting that due to the cams. the ECU reflash and letting the car adjust should fix that though. other than that, we test drove it, and it runs beautifully except its overheating...we think it may be a bubble in the coolant, but ill keep it updated.

Re: Samii the Subie, My Naturally-Badassperated Build :) (Thank You Dad!!)

I would like to use this post to thank 2 people.

First off is my dad for giving in to my plans to build this car, even after what happened to my previous car. I know we paid a little more than the car was technically worth, and i really appreciate getting this car even though she was rough to start, and not totally worth what we paid. I appreciate everything he has done for me, especially helping me out with a lot of the finances, one of them being the shop time and little things like fuel filters, oil, spark plug wire, ETC. being in the business REALLY helps this out. Also, having to pay your employee, even though you aren't making any money from it. I literally couldn't have asked for a better dad (although im sure you knew it was coming...look at your childhood and your first son )

2nd is my dad's employee Bill. Sure. Hes getting paid to do his job, this isnt the first Subaru motor hes pulled out and apart. But he still had to deal with me and all my crazy shit and being all excited about it :P Im sure i annoyed the shit outta him, and i just want to say thank you for all the help, hell thanks for practically everything that had to do with this. I literally couldn't have done it without you.

I haven't done the exhaust yet, so it sounds stock, a lil deeper in tone though. right now its stock redline is 6200, but after the reflash (ordered today) ill have a 6800 rpm redline

relevant mod list:
-Delta 2000 cams
-upgraded valvetrain
-crawford SRS-30 ECU (6800 rpm rev limit)
-borla rep header (heat wrapped)
-supers high flow cat (heat wrapped)
-Tsudo catback

sounds weird at the very end at low idle, but other than that, BEAUTIFUL :)

Unless that video is adjusting the volume, that's really loud!

I mean, it sounds great, but WOW!  Have you taken it on the highway and check how badly it drones yet?

You could just run an open header....  I rode in a friend's '89 Supra with just a downpipe.  I've never heard quite as good a sound short of the P-51 at Rhinebeck, but we were screaming at each other inside, and we couldn't hear.

so i haven't really been on here or updated this in a while....so here goes

so using ECUexplorer and Virtual dyno, i road dynod my build and here are the results!!

i know its not a "real dyno" and i dont know how accurate it is compared to other dynos, but id venture to say its fairly accurate, and im quite impressed.

for those of you wondering how i did this, basically i plugged my laptop into my car via OBDII-USB cable, used ECUexplorer to data log a few WOT runs, then input the data logs into virtual dyno and created a car profile which consists of gearing, weight, drag coefficient, tire radius, ECT and gives a dyno plot

That is a pleasantly flat torque curve, all right.  Looks like it picked up a bit of power, though that might be a little high.

other people road dyno their cars STOCK at about 120-130WHP on regular dynos, and with this software so i think its fairly accurate. maybe a few high but i dont think its off by much

The power depends entirely on the dyno.  Most Mustangs under-rate.  That measurement is CHP, not WHP, right?

no thats wheel..if that was crank that would be a pathetic 15 HP increase over stock lol those numbers are about the equivilant of a stock WRX which is about what i expected

So, wait, this program is giving people WHP numbers ~40HP higher than most actual dynos?  So that means you've got a supposed 40WHP increase?  That would mean, by normal dyno numbers, you're at 130WHP?  Just from cams?  I have a hard time believing that...  It's not impossible....
