Darn, was kinda hoping it was a shorter stroke, so you could rev the nuts off 'em.

Still.  I'll have to start searching for those...

How high do you want to rev? My LS1 has an upgraded valve train and it will rev to 7k rpm... It runs out of power in the 6000s anyway.

Yeah, I noticed later the prices were actually auctions, I was just skimming through.

A JZ would be different, but again, heavy, heavy engines.  Plus, I really doubt either the one or two could actually fit under a 944's hood, these things are pretty small.  The LS engines almost touch the frame-rails.  (Plus, I'm a HUGE sucker for a V8.  I mean, HUGE.)

The one nice thing about 944s is that since their transmission is in the back, you can put pretty much any engine you want in the bay, you just have to find a way to fit the clutch setup to it.  The downside is, the transmissions are really riding the failure line at 300-400HP, so a lot of the potential of an LS gets wasted until you put money into tranny work.

There's also LT1 swap parts, from before the LS existed, but all iron = way too heavy for me.  If it were a street car, maybe.  Throwing the weight balance that for out on a track car?  Stupid.  I'd rather find a Turbo engine and work it.

I could try looking for those old Buick aluminum V8s from the.. 60's?  70's?

My dads running 300-320 whp on his tranny. But i think its a different tranny than the NA. But his lsd is whiped and he's rebuilding it with a new LSD and shorter final drive.

I was kinda hoping something insane like 9k.  I'd love to keep it N/A, and just rev rev rev.  And the powerband can be sorted with a cam.  I'd think Solid lifters, hardened pushrods, titanium springs, nitrated valves, maybe a balance on a de-stroked LS would be bonkers.

Didn't you say his tranny was worked over anyway?  The LSD ones are different, yeah, though I don't think the gear strength was changed.

Nice car! I always liked these cars.  I still want a 928.

Anyway, not to quibble but factory 0-60 time for a stock '88 was 5.5 secs or so.

That's only the Turbo S.  The base model was something like 8.5, and the S2 was ~6.5, IIRC.

Because, you know, no manufacturer EVER tweaks their 0-60 in their own press packets....

Considering they're now owned by VW/Audi Gruppe?  The only company with more money and lawyers than that is Disney.  :2funny:
