Took me a long time, but I now own a silver WRX.
Picked it up from Carbone last night.

Thats funny, we were blabbing with the saleman and asked what the typical wrx owners age was and he mentioned an older gentlemen picked up his wrx up earlier.

I'm off of Tamarac Rd.
Not that its anything special, but I will post some pics of it when I get some daylight.

Im trying to decide if I should spend more $$ now and getting snow tires on rims or waiting a short while.

Spend the money on at least tires.  Your tires simply will not work on any snow, being summer-only rubber.   :-)

And Welcome!

I graduated in 1986

I am tempted to order my snows tonight, from tirerack, I bought a tire/rim set of Firestone WinterForces last year for our Outback and they are fantastic.  I will probably get another set of them on 16" rims for my wrx.

What oil and oil filter is preferable?  I was thinking Mobil 1 for the oil, but not sure on the filter brand. (not Fram)
I'll suck it up and pay the first oil and filter change at the dealer, but I am a DIY'er and would prefer to do everything after that myself.

I just ordered a set of 16s off tirerack for his car. I wanna say it was around 1050? 16" steels with bridgestone blizzaks, tpms sensors, hubcaps and shipping. They were here in 2 days can't really argue with that.

The oil question u will get a million diff answers as said above lol but from everyone I've ever talked to never use Mobil 1. A lot of people go with the rotella t once again as stated above lol

Why did you opt for the TPMS sensors?

I didn't think 16" rims would fit a 2011 WRX
2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs wagon

1995 Subaru Brighton Rs (sold)
2002 Hyundai Accent (sold)
1999 Chevy Cavalier (sold to my brother)
1998 Subaru Legacy wagon (traded to Blackparis)
1997 Subaru Legacy (Parted out and crushed)
1999 Honda Civic (Wrecked)
Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Welcome.   I live not that far from you. I live up blue factory rd off rt 2. I got my car from carbone also. If you want to get local tires ..... Grand Premere in eg is a good spot. Ask for Joe if you get out that way. Tell him Randy sent you.

I'm always going down that rd to pick up my daughters friends on the rt 7 side.

Congrats on the new car. You should have fun this winter. I know I will.

I'm sure I will see ya around .... I have the white STI with the led's on the lower lip.

Mine is also stock so far as well ...... My salesmen told me to get a list together of what I want to do and he will get the ok from the management

Who was your salesman ???

Maybe that was your blue WRX I used to see on Madonna Lake Road quite a bit a couple years ago??
I'll keep my eye out for a white STI.  I hope to drive around the Tomhannock Res area tomorrow and get some break in miles on the car.
Sohail was our salesman.

My car will probably be stock except for a really loud horn.
I ordered tires and rims this morning from TireRack and I got a shipping confirmation already.
Last year I ordered from tirerack on a Wednesday night and they were at my house Friday.

If you are doing all your own oil changes, Make sure you have records and receipts for all of them.

Have receipts showing mileage and dates,  This is very important incase you every have a engine failure. the first thing subaru ask for is proof of all maintance. If you don't have them you can be in a very bad spot.

with that said, i run rotella in my STI and the rest of my fleet of Subaru's
Your Subaru parts hook-up

If you need I have it

Thanks for all the good words, I may try to get some Hella horns from you FastFreddy.
A couple pics of our 2 Subies.  The coffin usually isn't on the Outback, but I finally went skiing yesterday.

I splurged a little, for looks.  I wanted to get some charcoal colored rims, but those were out of stock.
I wonder if I will need snows at all this year.

was that the wrx listed for 26k?    :buck2:  Welcome to the boards..

It was the 26,6xx base wrx, no real options to speak of
I drive by Carbone everyday and now I wish I had the $$$ for an STI

Ehh it didn't really snow much at all last year till january. I wouldn't count us out just yet.

Funny thing is I bought steelies to save a few bucks.  I would have gotten something a little nicer but decided against it.  Wife saw them and was like WTF!?  Said I should have gotten nicer ones.  Not expensive, but like yours.  Oh well. :(
