Another Newbie in Saratoga
« on: December 20, 2011, 12:05:58 AM »
New guy checking in!  Just picked up my '12 WRX 5 door on Sunday.  I'm loving this car!  This is my first Subie, I'm coming off of the Honda scene but with my move up to the NE I was ready for something different: AWD and something with TQ.  I'm looking forward to a new community here.

Here's the new ride.  Stock wheels are already gone for some nice snows and black steelies.

The old ride.  I had a lot of fun with this one but it was time to move on.

Welcome to the site and, just a suggestion, don't pick Aram up if you see him hitchhiking....

Thanks. The Civic had a lot done to it and I don't think I'm going to repeat that.  That being said, this will definitely be modded. I'm going for safe, reliable power without taking anything to the extreme.  My Si was pretty well built and I did some show stuff too so it was a lot of constant tweaking.  I love working on cars but I'm getting older and have less time so I don't want to tweak my coil overs and wheel fitment all the time, nor do I want to spend hours behind a polisher again.  Been there, done that.

Kinda between the track and downtown.  I see another 11 or 12 SWP 5 door go by my house pretty frequently lately.  I think I saw it parked on Clark the other day.  Is that you?

Your wheel bearings thank you in advance.   I found that as I became more mechanically astute, my vehicle's cleanliness suffered greatly.  20 year old me would strangle 26 year old me for having my cars so filthy inside and out.

It's weird how some cars hate aggressive offsets and some are fine.  Years ago I had an SVT contour and those ate wheel bearings like crazy once you started getting into wider wheels.  Guys run ridiculous offsets on the new civics without issue.  The RPF1s weren't too bad, but they wide enough with a low enough offset to require camber and fender rolling.  Tracked the car like that multiple times and never had so much as a hiccup.

Thats got to be you.  Just so you know the sight of you driving by taunted me for weeks while I was waiting for mine to get in!

Do you have an exhaust or anything?  Trying to decide what I want but would like to hear a few in person.  Cobb, Perrin, and Q300 are what I like on YouTube, but that doesn't necessarily mean much.  Just looking for something without too much drone.  A little is OK though, I want an exhaust you can hear so a little is inevitable.

Haha sorry man!  I will try to get my friend Trevor on here "statusno" to come up to saratoga- he has an '11 wrx with the SPT and it sounds awesome.  I've heard the q300 and it is pretty sick, but definitely louder than the SPT.

Side note lets get white 5 door beers sometime.

Definitely getting some rally armor flaps...just waiting to see what comes in Saturday.  No flaps, I'm ordering on Monday. If you have them in stock you have my attention.

Chips worry me.  Are there any good clear bra installers around?
