Trunk redo... but wait 2 INCHES OF WATER!!!!!!!!
« on: January 28, 2012, 12:19:20 AM »
Well i was going to redo the trunk false floor with some thicker plywood to support my heavy tool box when I discovered the trunk was wet. I thought to myself how odd it was so I ripped the trunk apart and found 2 inches of water under my spare tire and another 2 inches in the side cubby hole thing where the jack is. I noticed a lil bit of moisture coming from the body panel seem but then I noticed allthe water in the back of my tail light. So my drivers tail light is leaking and allowing all the water in.

So my question is, is this a common problem??? Or am I alone on this one?

I had the same problem in my car. I had a slight dent that you could hardly notice by the bottom of my driver side tail light that just pulled it in enough from the tail light to allow water to leak in. I didnt even realize it until a friend that's a body guy pointer it out... So I'm assuming if you have a bad seal around that tail light that's what's causing it

Well the taillights were removed because of the paint job so im assuming something didnt go back in right. I also noticed my trunk was slightly out of alignment too so I have a few things to figure out

I had water in my 05. Never had any body work done.. I believe it was from my system causing air to blow through the trunk seal, and allowing water back through..

I have had SEVERE water issues. You can check any one of these 3 causes that I had/ have.
Tail Lights
spoiler leaking thourgh any of the many holes.
OR check way up inside of the wheel well for any rot holes.

I could almost swim in my trunk some days.

I just drilled a tiny hole in the bottom of the spare tire well. Lets all the water out with no ill effects.
