Need to test fit my wheels over brembos.
« on: February 03, 2012, 11:36:43 AM »
I need to figure out if my white wheels will fit over brembos. I'm not sure of the offset so I might need to get spacers. That being said, can i go to somebodys house with brembos and 5x100 hubs to see if my wheels fit. Let me know when you want to meet. I'm funemployed so i have a bunch of free time always.

hmmmm....you're funemployed and I work from home
the driveway where the car is parked is a bit messy, but you're welcome to use my non-functional heap as a test pig if you want.  today and tomorrow are kinda busy, but should be around most of sunday or during the day most days next week if you don't find a volunteer sooner

I'm going to have my STI up in the air anyways tonight so I can get my upstream o2 sensor out. You are welcome to bring them over (anytime after 5pm) to test fit. I'll have the garage somewhat heated up (only running on 20# bottles of propane for now so the valves keep freezing up... lol). It will at least take the chill out. Let me know. I'll also have it in the garage tomorrow to most likely replace the sensor when it comes in, but I also have a starter and I don't know an exact time yet for that.

ok so they don't clear the brembos, but by not much.

questions:

which studs should i get?
what 3mm spacer should i buy?
should i run spacers in the back too even though they will clear?
how much difficulty am i going to have fitting 235/40/17 with 3mm spacers in the front on my wagon?
should i plan on getting camber plates now so that i will have less difficulty?

Do you really need studs for 3mm spacers? If you do, you absolutely must buy open-ended lugnuts.  I had 5mm spacers with studs, and even my longer-style lugnuts bottomed out before they  were able to fully engage the wheel.

I've had good luck with Ichiba Spacers/Studs and H&R Spacers.  If you use hubcentric rings, there might not be enough hub left protruding for the ring to sit correctly, since most are tapered 'wider'.

I wouldn't.  When I ran the spacers on the Baja, I just used 5mm's up front and nothing in the back. 3mm per side is a track increase of only 6mm.

Are you worried about tire-Strut contact or tire-fender contact?  Because camber plates do not change the relationship between tire and strut (your hub is bolted to the bottom of the strut).

Though if you DID want to buy camber plates, I could help you out for a discount on the rear brakes.

yea i'm just worried about tire to fender clearance. this will be a good excuse for camber plates and sedan fenders.

Nah, you can easily squeeze the 235's under the wagon fenders with enough camber...

Sedan control arms with STi Springs on Wagon Struts with 245's and -2.5 deg up front iirc-

right which means i either need sedan control arms or camber plates to get the -2 or -2.5. So i'm gonna go with camber plates because it's less money and less to change. In the future i'll get the sedan arms but for right now i need to conserve some cash.

remember you may need the sedan width front and rear to use the axles that are coming with your 6 speed swap.   I maybe able to get you some cheap sedan control arms.
