Hello all,

I just moved up to the saratoga springs area and just thought I'd say hey.  Been here about a month with my 03 WRB WRX, so I may try and come out to some meets later on.

I saw some thread on nasioc on the tri-state board that pointed to here about the TB turbo install fiasco.

anyone around here have a nice garage? may be looking to do some things to my car shortly, and also planning to do a v7/v8 swap into my car

nope.  I'm still on my stock wheels (i just bought a pair of tarmac 2 gunmetals tho, going to wrap them in some all season tires)

I saw a wrx on new years eve downtown with a plate that said "WRX HRD" or some such.  is that anyone here?  had a CF hood I think, cant remember the wheel type

Nicad, why not get some "summer" tires for the Rotas, and keep your stockers for winter or all season tires?

I have a garage- but it's nothing special.  It's been suffice for my oil changes and winter detailing sessions - so I can't complain.

See you around

I thought about it, but my poor stockers have damn near 20k miles on them.  I may be able to squeze some more out of them.  How comparable is the traction from the all seasons to the dry high performance tires?

allseaons vs high performance tires-  it really is night and day.  During high performance diriving, the Re-92's or any all-season tires just give out and screech like banshees.  A high performance "summer" tire will grip, and is more able to handle the power that our cars put out.

Good tires are commonly thought of as a great first mod.  Your car will accelerate, corner, and brake better.

all-seasons vs snow tires-  again night and day.  Especially when you consider that the re-92's are pretty mediocre all-season tires.  I kinda enjoyed the Re-92's in the snow, because I could get them to slide around- but my damn abs always activiated in the snow during very docile driving.  Now that I have dedicated snow tires,  I haven't felt my abs go on once this season.

FastFreddy on the board sometimes has a hook-up for snow tires.  If you decide to get another set of all seasons- I have my re-92's in the garage w/less than 7kmiles on them.  You can have them for cheap.

I don't plan on buying snow tires, since I'm leaving in may anyway for warmer areas.  I just want something that handles well in the dry and wet, which is why I was leaning towards the all seasons (not concerned about snow performance)

been sitting her drooling over v7 swaps, and going over the math
