I run Street Modified, and I'm outclassed right now, so I'm spending more money on my car ;)

If I ever do get to autox again, I'll class the Rex in STX- that's where it will be the most competitive.

The last autox I participated in, I ran CS (cstock).  I was running a 99 miata (for sale if anyone is interested), and while the car was competitive, the driver behind the wheel was not.  As they say, the best mod you can do for autox is "fix the nut behind the wheel."

My first car that I autoxed, I was in STS, and I had the most fun. (Integra)  I trophied a couple times in novice, but would would be a good second (or two) behind when I ran with the "big boys"-  but these guys were some of the best in the country.  It was fun to get spanked by these guys, and I was able to compare my times to them to see how much less I sucked each time. :D

Danielle and I run the RS in ST and it's set up almost perfect for it.

If I run the STI it will be in SM but to go to a national autox I would be very outclassed. Anyone running SM would HAVE to have R-compound tires.

What I want to know is how to get into AutoX-ing.  What kind of investment?  How much does it beat on your car?  Etc. etc.   That way I can figure out if I can GET an AutoX class.

It should be less than 40 bucks per day for at least 5 runs.  It's really not that much wear and tear on your car- as much as it is on your tires. It is very affordable and you will learn so much about your car after the first event, you'll wonder why you waited so long to try it.  I still have not been to an event on the east coast (aside from the Evolution Driving School that I attended in Boston) but I'm sure everyone is as friendly here as they are on the West coast.
