Mkii supra question .. Air Conditioning?
« on: May 13, 2014, 07:58:39 PM »
So I am pulling my motor and along with it, all the AC stuff is getting stripped. Dead compressor, Some leaky lines, Rotten Condenser... Its just extra wieght...

So INFRONT of the Condenser there is a little temperature probe, on a bracket infront of the AUX fan. .... Is this FOR the AC? or does it monitor air temp for the ECU?

I set it aside for now. If noone knows I will just remount it.

I doubt it would be for the ECU, as the intake air temperature would be more relevant.  Is there an ambient temperature gauge on your car?  (First guess)  Otherwise, I'd think it might be a temp/humidity gauge to kick the AC on with the defroster when humidity is high enough to need it.

I would question if the car will automatically kick on the AC as needed due to the age of the car.   MKii I assume is from the 80s?

It's an 84.

I actually also have to take apart the dash as none of the hvac stuff was working. It does have a thermostatic temp control, not just the blenddoor control.. Could it need to know external temp?

The car isn't going together for a while. Gotta plan a trip to run out to ohio to pick up some rust free doors, and gotta get the fuel cell/pump/lines ordered and installed.

Got my paint from summit :-)

Motor is on a stand in pieces, gotta finish rebuilding it.
