I'm going for sure. Leaving here around 9-ish.
Gotta put the drag tires on and buy some fire extinguishers.

Then it's off to the races.

My best run of the weekend ended up being my first run,  13.06s @ 104.2mph

I managed a 1.72s 60-ft time on another run but missed third.  I'm sure the car has at least a 12.9 in it but I need more practice.

Here's an incar vid of when I ran 13.13s @ 102.98 and 1.77s 60-ft (on a horrible launch I might add).

I have a bunch more vids I will post up later on.  I'd like to get rid of the buzzing noises on these vids also, going from my camera to my pc there is some kind of interference.

Yeah Jay, you did a really awesome job with that STi.

I don't know what's up with my car, maybe I need to change my tranny fluid or something. Damn thing is having a hell of a time shifting.  It was getting stuck in first on the way home today. Very notchy.  Keeps grinding in 2nd and I kept missing the shift to 2nd in the race. I'm afraid to pull the plug and see how much metal is in the fluid.

My trap speeds were ranging 105-106MPH even with my problems.  So the horsepower is there.   Still suffering some wheelhop issues too.  Just not a good day for me and the not so "rocket car".

Some other things worth mentioning:

A 15 second SRT4 gave me a ricer flyby AFTER the finish line.

A black dodge viper spun a 360 halfway down the track, kissed the wall, and kept going.  We spotted him later on trying to put on a spare tire and the rear drivers side suspension was fuxored.

The SRT4 driver I spotted drinking a beer in the staging lanes

I don't want to seem like I am bashing the SRT4's so I will also mention the stage3 srt4 that ran a 12.2 on slicks.

The POS chop-shop regal that Dominic ran against was seen leaving the dragstrip on a flatbed.

Hmm, I encoded them with divx 3.11 alpha figuring I'd get better compatibility using an older codec.  People had trouble with the ones I encoded with xvid or divx 5.21.

If you download the latest divx codec (divx.com) they all should play fine.  Tested it just now on my work computer.

Typically those things need to be installed, though, which isn't an option on this computer.

you can see in all those videos that after my launch, the car stops accellerating for a few seconds.  I kept missing my shifts to 2nd. My tranny is all hosed up.

My first race was against the 12 second SRT4.  Very humbling experience.

Nice vids and thanks for posting. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out a couple times before I head to West Virginia in July.... I will prob have my car ready sometime early june late may. Depends on how long I have to wait for some of the parts... In case the name didn't give it away, STI and it should be running a GT30R with supporting mods.

Me likey the GT turbos.  Gonna order me one too.  Just trying to decide if I'm going to stick with 2.2L or go back to a 2.5L. I really miss the torque for the launches.

Well I guess I'm biased toward the 2.5 so thats my vote. Before this I had a dinan supercharged MZ3 roadster and that had way more down low and up top over my STI so I am guessing from numbers I've seen that a GT30R with external gate should be able to one up on the M.

I've never been to lebanon valley but from the looks of there site they should have some pretty nice events there... Look forward to hitting up a few.

They are aweful expensive. And there are so many assholes there.  They aren't very friendly to imports on the weekends.  Wednesday isn't as bad because it's street night. But the people with Drag Only cars are total pricks.  Not all, but a lot.

I'm voting for more cubes too. Only I'm not rich. I'm far from it.  So I guess we'll see.

it's better to beat them in a drag race.
So all we need now is a fast car.....

Well my setup should be good for low 11's on race gas. Speaking of which where to buy around here? Yeah my car has been punched twice down here in Albany leaving dents I had to fix, ones still left. I know there are different attitudes around and can't stand ignorant people and sounds like theres a lot of them. I am not saying theres anything wrong with a big block big displacement domestic but hey where the fun in making that an 11 sec car and if you do I guarantee your parking it for most of our snow covered year?

Anyhow yes I do agree beating them on the track would be most satisfying. Like I said setup should be good for low 11's but is the driver   !!!

I come from a republican family and grandparents who fought in WWII and one that went to Japan so we have had the import debate and the one who went to Japan is all for imports once he drove my car mind you the man is 86 former lumberjack / soilder and still can appriciate a turbo trip and foreign design he loved the M!

You can get race gas at the track, but all my friends get it (for their 4-wheelers and dirt bikes) at some place on Rt 7 in Duanesburg I believe.  I'll try to get some details.

I'm also in Albany, what color is your STI?  I noticed my first ding today  :(

All of you are in Albany, now I work further into Troy (next to HVCC) and I see no one. Ever.

Ok, Byron and Fred every once in a while.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.
