2015 STi wheel recommendations, exhaust question?
« on: September 30, 2014, 09:26:54 AM »
So I've had my '15 for about a month, and a touch over 1500 miles. Easily the best driving car I've ever owned. Predictable handling, with an ever so slight amount of under steer. The base model wheels gotta go though. I was considering Rota Grids, in 18x9.5 et38, but I'm not sure I'll clear the fenders. Also wanted to know if an aftermarket exhaust will void a powertrain  warranty...

Grids look, good, but i'd stick to 8.5" or 9" as you're just adding significant weight and not able to fit more tire past a certain point.

Aftermarket catback: should not

Aftermarket downpipe: Yes
Aftermarket downpipe + proper tune: Yes, technically

My first wheel suggestion is the 2014 STi rim.  Ive seen it on a '15 WRX and it looks sweet.  honestly,  I think it looks good on every Subaru i have seen it on.

Secondly  I like this XXR rim, or similar style.

Wow, the XXR's are gorgeous..... The '14 rims aren't bad either. Appreciate the info deadlydave, I was reading somewhere that too much tire can negatively affect grip, but I figured I'd be able to fit at least 9" of tire under this thing. Anyone have a sweet discount wheel site? Sadly enough, Amazon had the best price on the Rota's.... Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?
