Payday 2 (PC)
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:53:56 PM »
This game's been out for a while.  A friend randomly gifted it to me via Steam and I'm hooked.  Basically, you dress up as a clown and run heists on banks, prisons, the FBI, art galleries, etc.  Left 4 Dead style 4-person team co-op and an "AI director", with weapon mechanics/leveling/upgrades very reminiscent of modern CoD games.  XP and certain achievements unlock items, weapons, and skills.  But you also need cash to buy/use the newly unlocked items.

If anyone wants to do some heisting, feel free to add me to your steam friends list: deadlydave9785.  My display name/alias is [STGC]Legacy.

Couple days in, and have played a few good heists with random internet crews.  I've graduated out of the base weapons set and have unlocked a lot of class-skills.  Still limited by in-game cash, as I haven't been able to purchase skills even though I have them unlocked.  Also my new guns are significantly more powerful, but less accurate than the base stuff without mods, which use the same empty cash pool.

Finally did a heist 'quiet'--sacking a nightclub's safes for cash without setting off alarms.  It took 5-6 minutes instead of the 15-25 if the police get alerted.

Yeah, thats a bad one to get hooked on.  Its pretty fun to get working on things and progress through the game.

I would kill some free time if I wasnt on sucky satellite internet :(

I haven't used the computer for gaming since Diablo III...but before that, probably not since the first "new" Wolfenstein
but that trailer looked pretty fun.......

Payday 2 just had a free weekend.  I think I saw ED playing actually.

Right now there are 4 of us UNYSOC folk playing semi-regularly, and 2 other guys I work with.  I'm probably playing 4 or 5 nights a week.  They added a car heist!

And one of the rewards related to it.  Some say that they stole a fusion engine to sell to a car company.  And that their hands really are blue.  All we know is, they're not the Stig....they're the Stig's heisting, non-trademark-violating cousins!

I somehow had this game in my library. I can't remember if I bought it or someone gifted it. Anyway, I started playing on and off and I absolutely suck at it.

I somehow had this game in my library. I can't remember if I bought it or someone gifted it. Anyway, I started playing on and off and I absolutely suck at it.

The starting weapons and (non-existent) armor are absolutely terrible.  There's a lot to the game--even just the missions themselves.

Skills:  http://payday.wikia.com/wiki/Skills

Perk Decks:  http://payday.wikia.com/wiki/Perk_Decks

Weapons/Builds:  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=251751235
http://payday.wikia.com/wiki/Weapons_(Payday_2)

For my loud build I use the Armorer Perk Deck, the heaviest armor, a fully modded Gold AK, and a fully modded D-Eagle or Bronco .44.  I have kind of middling offensive stats, due to taking a more team-oriented set of skills.  But both of my weapons beat the '40' damage breakpoint per shot(you can 1-headshot kill most enemies).
