Feal 441 or RCe Tarmac 0
« on: April 10, 2015, 07:58:40 AM »
I'm going to be in the Pouhkeepsie area from the 16th til the end of the month and will be in Albany a couple days during that time. I'm pretty sure I have narrowed it down to these two CO set ups and was wondering if anyone in the area has either and would be willing to give me a ride. I have an 05 9-2x aero so 02-07 MYs would be preferable but any WRX/STi/RS with them would still give me an idea. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the 441's but I do have the Tarmac revalve with rce blacks, you are more than welcome to take it for a spin if that helps you at all! I'm about 5 mins from Albany.

Thanks! That would be greatly appreciated. I'll be in Albany on either the 18 or 19. I am doing some engagement photos in the area and have to base it on the weather so I'll let you know when it gets closer. What kind of top hats are you running? I have been thinking about WL Com C front and group n rear if I go with those. I also see you are involved with New England Hill Climb. I am looking to do a couple of those events this year as well as one HPDE. Nothing competitive, just for fun. Do you feel they are up to the task if not pushed too hard?

Cool, I'll be around that weekend. I use MSI plates up front and have Group N hats in the rear. I tried the Com C mounts before I started racing and they lasted about 3 months on the back roads of Columbia County before the bearings went. Maybe I got a bad set because I have been happy with everything else WL has to offer that I use but those mounts just aren't very stout. For the track I would say the 441's would be the better option, but for climbs struts are the way to go. Our hills are too bumpy and choppy for coils because you lose about 2-4 inches of bump travel with most of those setups.
Oh before I forget, so we don't waste each others time, if you wouldn't mind telling us or PMing me your stature or measurements we could avoid a no-go. For example, a friend of mine who is 5'9" 280# can only get one cheek in the passenger seat, and that one is slightly wider than the drivers seat, and another friend who is about 6'5" 260# cant even get his tall ass through the door  :tickedoff:

Mostly it'll be a DD. HPDE will be more for instruction and becoming a better driver. I used to do auto x with my 240 but that was nearly 15 years ago and haven't had any seat time since. As for size, I'm a very average 5'9" and 180lbs. I've actually been looking for some seats that fit better then these crappy Saab seats but am having a hard time finding some narrow enough for me. Seems as though most seats are made 38" waist these days.

I live in the Lake Placid area and am much more concerned with being able to handle rough roads. I won't be lowering the car much. Thinking stock height on the rear and .5-.75" lower up front. My last car was a 97LGT that I fit Koni adjustable a with stock WRX springs. All WL bushings and group n hats. Road really nice for DD but did lack when I'd push it hard on some o the windier roads. With this car I want to get some seat time again but not looking to be competitive. Just don't want to blow struts all the time when pushing it. Currently running Cobb stg 2 and am looking into a VF34/39 conversion. Want to get the suspension/bushings and brakes up to par before pushing more tq/hp
