long/beveled hub rings
« on: June 01, 2015, 11:32:14 AM »
After getting the shaft form the IRS,  I won't be buying new wheels anytime soon.   I have been having ongoing issues with these 350z wheels and vibrations.  It looks like my last hope is to find longer hub adapters.   Basically with the bevel on the wheels they sit in too far, and don't reach the hub.  Does anyone know if such a thing exists?  google is not helping.

Back story.
Traded my 16x7s with all-seaons for    17x7.5 /  17x8  350z wheels. Wheels are better fitment and had awsome rear dunlops on them. They need to be painted though.  It cost me $100.   No biggie.  Got hub rings but had a wheel shimmy.   350z wheels require 12 x 1.25 lugs with long shank to keep the wheel centered.  MR2 uses 12x1.5 lugs.  I can't find any lugs that will fit the lug holes.    I also tried swapping out for an almost identical wheel stud {but with 12.1.25 threading    i.e  240sx / 350x, } but apparently even .015" is enough to make a difference with them.

Most spacers 10mm and higher have hub center "extenders"  I don't know if anyone makes just hub bore extenders.

if hub rings sit in too far, sounds like they don't have a big enough lip for the wheels' bevel.  I've never run into this, but I guess I can see how it would happen.  Maybe try to find extra long hub rings?

I thought about this too,  but couldn't find any,  but then it would probably just slide into the wheel more.. Its a bit of a conundrum.   I have seen spaces with the hub extender that is beveled,  which would be perfect.  The problem is the 350z wheels are already pretty flush fitment, and doing this might require body work...  Also I would have to find some with the proper hub for the wheels.

I was hoping to solve this for $200 or less.   At that point, I might as well suck it up and just buy the rims I want,  but I'm trying to be a good boy and take care of my financial priorities first.
