4EAT slipping ?
« on: March 10, 2016, 06:30:07 PM »
I'm trying to help out a friend diagnose an 01 Forester.  It's bone stock, only 100,000 miles and the tranny seems to be slipping.  More gas pedal adds revs and no speed.  He's had the fluid drained and filled, which improved it briefly, but it's back where it was. The fluid level looks OK.

Is there any other basic stuff he can check ?  Short of the clutch pack/solenoid, I thought these were pretty bombproof.

Not really much to be done besides a flush, without removing the trans.
Does it slip in all gears?
