I believe it's the Stewart's on the corner of Rte 29 and West Ave- not sure what time since we, well me at least, usually ends up sleeping a little later than planned and proceeds to 'hurry' getting there.  Usually I like to say I'd be at FMCC by 8:30 am or so, but it's usually closer to 9:30... If we shoot for being there around 8:30, we'd have to meet up at Stewart's around, say, 7:30-ish?

Anyone?  Anyone?

Oh yeah - I'm (according to UPS tracking) getting my new tires tomorrow- Kumho V710's - and hopefully getting them mounted thursday or friday- so I can run my new Panasports finally!  Woohoo!

As always- everyone is welcome to come!  SOCH it up!

I might want to go to this... I might be busy sunday, but if not I think it'd be a lot of fun... One problem though, I don't have a helmet.  Anyone think they might be able to help me out with this? I never autocrossed before and I'll probably be awful

How does registering go? Costs? Do I have to be a member of Mo-Hud SCCA or can I show up just for the event?

Ah - depending, usually we'll end up coming out on 29 - somewhat a straight shot west for anyone further up north.   Either way - I'm sure we'll see you guys there!

I might want to go to this.  Someone have a link for me to look at?  I might be busy sunday, but if not I think it'd be a lot of fun... You can check out the MoHud website for any info-

http://www.mohud-scca.org

They have directions to the site(s) (under the 'solo' link) and any other info you may be looking for- including loaner helmets, which are available. :)

Oh yeah - and if you think you're going to be awful at it - go anyway!  You'll more than likely be quite surprised at what you and your car can do!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask- someone will have some answer for you!

You quoted before my "not so ninja" edit  :2funny:

-Is this stull true (from website) "The cost of each event shall be $30 for non-SCCA members and $20 for members" - that'd be good :)
-How many runs?
-Do I need to do/know anything else?

Yep 30$ for non SCCA

There are loaner helmets 6 of them... I use em :-D

Day starts off w/ registration
walk the course
Driver meeting 10am (saftey and upcoming events)
then ya either do 3 laps/ or work the course while the other half do 3 (stock and prepared generaly race fist the street and mod race second)
then ya switch
Quick lunch break (Bring a cooler w/ some food and water as there isnt much around the area to get food and little time)
then work or race for 3 more
and switch
All done by 3-4pm normally Trophys are given out around 5pm after funruns(2$ each) are finished they still give ya times but dont count towards points/trophys

Working the couse is easy just stand in a designated area and when a cone falls run and place it back upright run back :-D

Quick list of stuff to bring:
Cooler w/ water! LoL standing in sun all day!
Some chips/cookies
A rubermaid tub to throw everything from your car into (floormats, any tools) or just completely clean your car out the night b4
And directions FMCC is seriously in the middle of NOfmccWHERE!

That's the big one!  If you can bring food/drinks (especially water when it's really hot out) with you and not have to run out to get some (which is a short distance really, but takes a little bit of time nonetheless) - definitely a big help.

And they usually talk about bringing a raincoat or something in case it pours out... but - *fingers crossed* - the weather forecast seems to be pretty good for sunday so far...

Oh Crap I thought it was at ACC. Sorry Sean - I'm out for this one. Next ACC race (if there is another one) and I'll be there, camera and pimp ride and all.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

I will not make it this sunday.  :-(
There was a misunderstanding with family and I will not be able to attend...

Unless I decide to race the chevy conversion van. (RWD drift machine)

Good luck Darroj on your first race!

Hopefully everyone gets to go!  It's more fun when there's lots of people!

And Dan - bring the van!  Come on - I've seen a Toyota pickup (with like a 12-inch lift kit and probably 38+ inch tires) run around a go-kart track before... can't be that bad... :)  No biggie though - ACC is coming up August 20th again!  Usually more people can make it there as it is a little more of a central location, I guess.

And Darroj- there lots of guys that are excellent drivers- I haven't heard for sure, but I'm assuming byroll01 with be there- if you get a chance, well- I certainly suggest asking if you can tag along for a ride with him.

And fun runs - as long as there's time available and they have them- are lots of fun- basically you get timed runs, that don't count toward points for the day - but anyone that was registered for the event can drive any vehicle registered/teched for the event...  as long as other people trust you with their car and (usually the big one) you're 'considerate' to their cars, well - it's lots of fun!  Also, you can have other people try your car and you can ride with them - excellent learning (and humbling at the same time) when someone is able to show you how to improve in your own car...

Lyndon, that'd be fun! I'm cobb AP stage 2 but my car is still wussy for autocross... stock everything other than tbe and little things. I'm going to get H-techs once i find them, im debating about a 22mm rear sway bar too.

I haven't met any of you in person yet, so come say hi.  I'll be in the silver 04 wrx sedan with tinted headlights and one those (semi cheesy) JDM license plate holders :)

See you all there!

Ok maybe im i alil cranky today but i dont see why a stg2 wrx would be considered wussy for AX.  There are several cars there that have substantially less power than a wrx.  Why is your stg wahtever sooo wussy.  i think the driver may be the wussy part

I mean my car is a stg2 and im not scared to race in an AX, even before i had any mods

I just dont get people who mod their car to certain  a point before they race it

Ask any real enthuasist or racer,   THE BEST MOD FOR ANY CAR IS SEAT TIME

So put on the man pants and show up to the AX,  shit you'll prolly be f4st0r than me

I meant in terms of handling I may be wussy and I already said I was going to come so I'm a little confused by that. A lot wrx's I've seen that have autox'ed have had springs/strurts/swaybars and/or some autox rims/tires. Power isn't going to do me much good in an autox if I personally can't control the vehicle.  I almost wish I had done suspension/handling BEFORE power. I admit that I have NO seat time, which is why I wanted to go and hopefully learn from people who are MUCH more experienced than I am, including yourself. When Lyndon brought up the idea of riding with someone or letting someone else show you what your car was capable of I thought it was a great idea...

and for what its worth, I signed up for RallyRPI on nasioc (nesic thread) before I was even on unysoc, before I was stage 2, before I even had the car for 1 month! I'm not afraid to autox, in fact I'm really excited about it, I just haven't had a chance yet.  I'm not really sure why you're tearing into me, but I'll try to word myself more carefully from now on.
