is there a difference between the 02/03 exhausts and the 04STi, fitment wise?  I was looking at a bosal catback but on the bosal website, its listed for 02-03 WRX's.

fitment wise, no. but i've noticed that certain axle backs on the STi seem to hang closer to the bumper than the 02/03s. just a thought in case you fear the bumper melt.

I've noticed thats as well, but not to a specific car. I simply found that some exhausts sit differently on EVERY car.
My blitz for example, sits back farther than any other wrx fitted with a blitz I've seen.
I actually like the fact that it does, it makes it more discrete. (although the sound pretty much kills any chance of that :) )

2nd2none-- I think you should be fine with just a catback, but keep in mind that the STi and it's VF39 turbo have MAJOR boost creep problems if you open up the exhaust too much.  I know that poeple who choose to run the catless downpipes have to run thier stock catbacks to keep enough backpressure to stop the boost creep.  If you do have the problem I can help you fix it but it will be an all day project and require removal of your upppipe/downpipe and the back side of your turbo.(i did it with mine but haven't been out to test if it worked yet).

we can talk more on sunday if you have any q's on boost creep.

yeah, i should be fine since i'm not doing anything other then the catback exhaust.  i'm moving back to cali when i get out of the navy in a year and i dont wanna hassle with emissions since its way strict out there
