the stock alarm sucks. i had the best alarm in the world on my sti...viper 791xv. a car is going to get stolen anyway, regardless of alarm if the thief really wants it.

Here's a little tidbit of information regarding the subaru security upgrade and most aftermarket alarms for that matter.

1) starter kill relays do nothing for a manual transmission, you can push start it.
2) the subaru security upgrade install instructions is easily accessible on subaruparts.com, this makes it easy for someone to find and disable
3) to prevent your vehicle from being push started either install a toggle switch, or immobilizer relay on the ignition or fuel system.
4) dei makes the directrack gps tracking system that can be interfaced with any dei esp2 compatible alarm or any aftermarket alarm system.

to make the dei esp2 & directrack more effective, install a digital tilt sensor that can detect change in pitch angle of the vehicle.  the sensor will notify the alarm which in turn notifys you via the directrack system.  notifications can come in page, cell, internet, email etc...

not sure how prevalent wrx thefts are in the capital region, but in nj/ny wrx thefts are rampant.  if you spent a lot of time and money on your vehicle is it worth it to park in places where you have no control over?

the problem with the stock alarm is the placement of the modual... heres ahwt u do to fix that... put the modual where they put the STI one... that way u have to remove atleast 10 screws to get to the thing

relocating the module will not prevent someone from push starting the vehicle.

on the wrx u dont need a screwdriver, just pull that area by the ebrake and its there... less than 2 sec if done by a pro

only if your primary horn is in the engine bay.  i recommend to many people to have extra mini piezo sirens installed within the vehicle.  in the event of the main siren is cut within the engine bay the other sirens will still be going off within the vehicle.  as long as the alarm's 12 volt source isn't disconnected or if a battery backup device is installed to compliment the existing alarm system.

SIKE...the stock alarm for my RS sucks!!! Both my remotes went out already, and now my horn went...I cant arm or disarm my car without them.  Now when it goes off, randomly, which it does, I need to use the kill switch.  BOO!! Time to buy an aftermarket alarm!!

if you dont want your car pop started, put a chain around a rim or two....  not to stealthy, but will work in a pinch,  you can but it in a nylon sleeve so it doesnt sratch the hell outta your wheel.

i would definatly sudjest an ignition or fuel cutoff located were it wouldnt be obvious what that switch is, or set it up with the propper dip chip, a mini monentary button switch, and program the dip to however many pushes on the momentary switch you want.
