Clear Head lights
« on: January 28, 2007, 10:42:57 PM »
Does anyone know how to clear the head lights out on an 06 WRX?  I herd it involves cracking the seal and baking them off and what not, which I don't feel very comfortable doing.  Also im looking to get some HID's but after looking on NASIOC i guess they say you shouldent unless you change reflectors because the beams will be very off and you will blind other drivers?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

Nasioc is a great resource if you can sift through all the bullshit.

Beat22 is your man for clearing/baking headlights look him up

You should be able to buy an HID kit and install it without changing the reflectors, i think the thread you were looking at was about retro-fitting which indeed you need some sort of custom reflector.

After a lot of reserach done by myself, in order to reap the true benefits of HID lighting (specifically 04-05) you should change out the reflectors with oem STI housings.  They have a different reflective pattern designed for HID not halogen that will focus the beams more precisely.  People who do not change out the reflectors will have more of a scattered light beam and it will look brighter but not better.  As for the '06, there are already projectors there (low beam) so there are no reflectors to change...

As found out by the Outback people (with projectors), something about the projector housing causes some funky lighting patterns. I have the thread and will dig it out for you.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

i dont have the sti which come with the HID's...So do I have to change the reflectors or just buy the plug and play kit and im all set?  I dont want them to look like crap.  I hear Phillips and another brand are the best since thats what comes equipped on most cars stock when they have HIDs....once again any help would be great....I'm not very good with stuff like this.

Thanks Again,

Chris

Here ya go, there is  also a member on NASIOC that will convert your lights to HID's great price and professionally done. I will link you to that next time I see it.
This is probably one of the best bang for the buck DIY mods. I dont know if the OP says it, but ensure you use extra silicone to resea; your lights. If you choose not to you will develope a leak, maybe next day maybe 1 year but it will eventually leak.

That was fast lightwerkz here's the link for HID conversion
