04 CF hoods
« on: February 21, 2004, 02:37:15 PM »
so i've been looking for a carbon fiber hood for my STi for awhile.  Vividracing has this http://vividracing.securesites.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_5_48_1182&products_id=2568&osCsid=c61282e37a7084a6c028aa29b22c7617
A guy on Nasioc is selling 3 of these same hoods for $400+shipping which sounds like a pretty good deal especially compared to what vivid wants.  anyone know of other CF hoods for the 04 WRX/STi or know if Seibon is a good brand?

If you've poked around Nasioc, then I'm sure you've read the reviews of Vivid.  If not, you should.

As far as the hoods themselves,  make sure they're a quality weave. There's actually a company in ballston spa that does CF stuff...Hey Byron,? who are they again? Maybe they could use youre hood as a template and give you a cf one at cost...

Either way, be careful of any chips you get on it. Friend of mine (Mud Puppy at Nabisco) has one that had small chips at the front of the hood. They turned into hood-long cracks through the winter...maybe getting Stonguard would do some good....it would protect our thin paint too.

yeah, I remember Byron mentioning something about the place in Ballston Spa when we met up at Panera.  as for using my hood as a template, that wouldnt work since one of the reasons i want the CF one is mine is already dented up some

seibon is supposed to be pretty good for cf hoods, from what I've read....I ended up going with a kaminari reverse scoop one...
