 :x
I'm very depressed, the transmission on my 05 WRX w/ 60kmi started slipping about a week ago........only does it when the car is cold, once it warms up it runs well, although you can tell its not 100%.....
I took it into Goldstein Subaru  :crazy2: :idiot2:  and got into an argument with the service manager.....
They arent sure if it will be covered because when I brought it in the mileage read 60,012 miles. (its a 60 mile drive to the dealer from where I live and I made the appoitment 2 days prior so I was around 59,850 when it was made) :2funny: :idiot2:
So they have to wait to get word from subaru on whether they can cover it, meanwhile i'm paying 60$/day for a rental car that i've had since thursday, and will have for who knows how long. (NO LOANERS AT GOLDSTEIN, ALTHOUGH PIDDLY DEALERS NEAR ME CAN OFFER THEM  :x )
This is the fourth time i've brought this car in (in less than a year) and the third time i've been accused of bottoming it out by the service manager.  Apparently there is a dent in the transmission pan so they feel its been beaten. (Which it hasnt)  Only problem with that is when I picked it up originally, on the way home the check engine light came on and when I brought it in I was accused of bottoming it out because the downpipe was cracked.  They offered to replace it when I explained i had never bottomed it out........
When I got it back it had new gaskets on it and thats it..........so much for service at goldstein.
I will never ever ever ever shop there again, or get service there, and I would urge others to avoid them.  This is not the extent of my negative experiences there, but I cant type all day... :-( and I have a friend who was once big on this message board to confirm it.... If they will not cover the replacement transmission (automatic) can anyone tell me what i'm looking at spending and where is a good import shop, or a dealer I can trust...
Thank you!

... Did you ever change the fluids? I change mine every 20k... Its normally burnt pretty bad @ 20k...

Also you probably picked up the car brand new @ the lot with around 15-20 miles on it.. so that "should" make up for the 12 miles you went over... Mine had 37... so I am covered till 60,037, its in the original paperwork, I remember signing the paperwork about it...

nope, used ..about 34kmi, my gf was driving it every day back and forth to work in albany 60 or so miles....so it racked up the milage pretty quickly......we thought the warrantee was good to 75kmi so it was a bit of a shock.....

omg i cannot express my hatred enough towards those bastards. :tickedoff: this was even early in the game. got the first oil change, got the "courtesy wash". came to pick it up, swirls everywhere. i complained and the prep manager said oo if you didnt want it washed you should have told us. i said to him ok so your telling me i should have expected it to be messed up?!?! so push came to shove and i spoke with stephanie goldstein, she had them give me a full details, the marks appeared to be gone. then after about 2 rains they were back and still are. currently looking into detailers locally. i certainly agree to BOYCOTT GOLDSTEIN!! CAPITALAND is SOO much better and friendlier and have there act together! needless to say ANTI - GOLDSTEIN FOR LIFE!

Amen Keifer!  I might have to talk to Ms. Goldstein myself to get something done here....
When we picked up the car I asked for floormats and the pass. side visor was hanging down, so I wanted that repaired, to 'seal the deal' on the purchase.  When I got it, no mats, because the salesman (Nick) would get into 'big trouble' for giving us those....(his words)
And as for the visor, apparantly that was too technical for the service dept. to figure out because that was never taken care of....something about the spring in it, and they would have to replace the whole assembly (god forbid)- that might cost them 50$ or so....  So I dont know why I agreed to this, If I knew I was going to have to fight tooth and nail to get anything at all here I wouldve either started early or better yet walked away with my baby mustang... :smitten:RIP
I just found warrantee agreement paperwork that I signed in my car folder and it says I agreed to a 4 yr/75kmi limited warrantee....but it says on the back that the transmission is covered, internals and all.....So i'm hoping they have no BS or some so called small print to throw back at me when I bring this to their attention tomarrow AM.
We'll see.....

Well, heres the latest...
Over the weekend I went through my warrantee paperwork, and found a contract signed by the dealer and myself stating that I have a 4yr./75kmi limited warrantee.  On the back it says that the Transmission including all internals IS covered.
Monday AM I called and left a message with the Asst. 'Service' Mgr. (he was in a meeting, most likely figuring out how best to alienate and rip off customers)
and told him about this, when I got home from running around I had a message on my answering machine saying that per Subaru headquarters the tranny WOULD be covered, and i'm very lucky because it would've cost me over 3,000$.
The only 'stipulation' made by Subaru was that they would only cover the Rental rip off for 5 days.  I'm going to have this car for at least 8 days, at 65$ a day, i'm looking at a 200$ bill for this.  What do you think of that?  I dont feel I should have to pay this.....its the dealers problem that they have to order the transmission and it will take them days to repair it.  My plan of action is to let them do the repairs and then dispute the bill for the rental, the fight continues but at least they are covering the transmission.
Does anyone know whats up with that paperwork stating a  75kmi warrantee?  It appears to me they were lying and didnt think I had or would take the time to look into the paperwork, being a young, 'inexperienced' customer.
Thanks,
Ben

Double check your paper work for Rental coverage...

5 days is pretty much standard from most warranty companies that I have seen...

If you don't think 200$ is worth having your tranny fixed then just return the rental after 5 days and figure out how to get around places without a car

I dont think thats right though, they sold me a beaten car and have lied to me multiple times about it, its their fault i'm going to have this car for more than 5 days and they (the dealer) should cover the remainder of the bill not covered by Subaru.
OR they should get my car back to me quicker..........

After much unneccesary arguing and headaches  :tickedoff: the repairs to my transmission and the rental car are both covered 100%.........
If it was going to turn out like this anyway they shouldve at least been decent about the whole thing and 'maybe' got a repeat customer.....
Anyway, i'm off to capitaland to look at a legacy GT....

Talk to George!
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

When I bought my LGT from Goldstien, I was very aggressive on the whole deal and demanded the car covered under warranty until 100k (bought it w/ 59k) and such. My salesman looked just like Puff Daddy and his name was Prince. Here's the problems I encountered so far:
1. The didn't bolt the engine cover down like I asked. I removed it anyways.
2. The detail wasn't 100% perfect.
3. The steering wheel is off by about 2*.
4. When they dropped the car off (more on that later), the gas was at a little less than a 1/2 tank, and the car was bucking a bit throughout the rev range which I think was the ECU pulling timing because it was detonating due to them putting in 87 octane.

The overall service wasn't bad at all. I had to work the day I was scheduled to get the car, and my mom had to sign the paperwork as well (she was my cosigner) in order for me to get it. She couldn't take the time off of work, so they went there w/ the car and the paperwork, and we switched my trade in and the LGT there. I thought that was good service.

The second they argue w/ me about warranty work, Chris Cossey gonna smack a bitch.

The salesman I dealt with told me it would be okay to run 89 in my rex...umm...no :uglystupid2:
But he was also the same guy talking about supercharging his cadillac catera...so...yea... :2funny:

i've never run just 89... but i've had a near empty tank of 93 and added 89 to full. ran fine the entire time, no noticeable difference.

at least you got the car back, hope it was only the gas!

Welp, Heres the latest, after  Goldstein  having my car for about 2 weeks I got it back today.  It felt pretty sluggish compared to how it ran before these problems, but I chalked that up to the heat and having AC on.
I left work tonite at 10, so the car had been sitting for over 8 hours and when I left the transmission was slipping so bad I had to pull over to let cars go by. :|
So much for quality work at goldstein, I doubt they even touched the damn thing.  So, like I said before i'm calling them tomarrow and bringing it back when I can and they can do it again, and again till they get it right if thats what it takes.  This is ridiculous, 2 weeks with the car and its worse than it was when I dropped it off. :tickedoff:
Goldstein sucks. What else can I say.
