I wish, I doubt the warrantee would be honored at another suby dealer.  The reason I have an auto is my GF cant, or wont learn to drive stick and I have to get surgury pretty often from a bad accident a few years ago, so I only have 1 leg to drive with.
But I still wish I had a stick right about now...

I gotta take it in first thing monday AM, like I said...we'll do it again, and again, and again.....whatever it takes for them to get it right.....

I'm getting ready to bring this bad boy in again.  As of last night reverse doesnt work AT ALL, neutral thinks it is park, The shifter gets stuck in park and its hard to get it back out so right now its in N with the parking brake on.
The car is now also making a ticking type noise from who knows where and also a loud whining.  Its a little better to drive in 1,2,3 but in D it shifts all over the place like crazy no matter what speed you are at and bucks like riding a mechanical bull.
This is nuts!  :idiot2:

Other than doing the work for free<or under warrantee> i dont understand why you keep bringing it back to Goldstein.  At this point Id absorb the reapir costs and bring it to a reliable subaru dealer who can actually fix the problem.  You are getting the complete run-around at goldstein.

To me it would be worth it to pay for another dealer to fix it and have the car back ready to drive in less time with way less aggravation and no "bring the car back because we did a crappy job pulling the wool over your eyes the last time you were in for service"

ie. Any other subaru dealership could've swapped in a brand new transmission in your car in 1 day.

Sympathy: I do feel sorry  for your situation,

Idea: Trade the car towards something else.   You are finding out the hard way that your car has some quirks that were hidden when purchased.  Get rid of it before you discover more "quirks".

This happened to a good friend of mine on this forum and it was painful to watch.  He ended up trying to repair the car and spent a couple thousand and it still wasnt fixed but then the dealership he was getting the work done at offered him a good trade-in price (on the broken car) towards an 06.

Update on my wonderful situation.
Just picked the car up today, again.
When I asked what they did to it the guy told me they put a re-manned tranny in it.(Exactly what they said last time) when I pointed this out he said oh no he must have 'mis-spoken' -we just replaced the seals etc. last time.
I got to speak to Joe (Service Mgr.) today, and he was actually more straightforward and honest than anyone else i've dealt with. I did explain that if this didnt hold up I would be expecting a brand new tranny on the next 'visit'.  The car seems to run better, tranny is shifting good but there are some occasional tranny noises that are worrying me a little, plus a tinny engine sound between 4.5k/rpm and 5k/rpm.

I'm calling them back on monday because under WOT the car will not hold full boost to save its life, it fluctuates heavily and constantly between 7.5 and 14lbs. and you can definately feel it under acceleration.  I believe there is a problem with the downpipe that should have been addressed at goldstein ages ago but wasnt..go figure.
After I get this taken care of and the car hopefully runs at least as well as when I bought it i'm going out looking for a new legacy (per the wife).  Want a GT, will probably end up with a lower model (no boost)
But anything to get out of this beaten old rex...right about now i'd be willing to trade for the forester 'rental' they put me in this week.....
Thanks for all the responses.

I really want a used Sti but right now i'm so antsy about it after the experiences with this Rex.  If I can get this crap all straight I might keep it and get the wife her legacy since i found out I am warrantee covered till 75kmi....but if i do keep it I want to at least get the cobb stg 2 and a turboback so who knows....

FYI, www.getadomtune.com itune + turboback and uppipe > Cobb stg 2 and turboback... and a hell of a lot cheaper.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Okay, maybe i'm ignorant. (definately,maybe..)
But what is the Itune, I checked out the site...how exactly does this work? Similar HP/Tq. gains to a cobb tune?

You get ahold of someone here that has a Tactrix cable.

You meet somewhere, they log your cars ECU output for ~20 minutes total in various situations (idle, cruising, driving around town, full throttle runs, etc).

That same person takes a dump of the ECU parameters on your ECU.

You then send dom your 45 dollars, the logs, and the dump from the ECU.

Wait a little while.

Dom emails you back the changed ECU parameters.

Rinse and repeat until both you and he are happy... or a month rolls around.

Smoother torque curves and usually more overall power. The Cobb Accessport isn't tuned specifically for your car, its generic unless you visit a Cobb tuner, where-as Dom tunes specifically for your car based on the logs you send him.

Read www.getadomtune.com/forums for a lot more information.

And it costs you 45 dollars and a little food/gas money for the person doing the logging instead of 650 dollars for an AP that will be a generic tune. Then (usually) 110 dollars for a custom tune.
