Clutch is Going!
« on: August 22, 2007, 11:43:09 AM »
Alright so i've been noticing it fading away and now its just pissing me off.  Its not gone yet but i would like to replace it anyways this might be the second clutch in this car, i think, I'm almost sure its the OEM Subaru Clutch i've had the car for 35,000 miles now i knew it was going to happen eventually....just wondering what your guys opinions are on whether or not i should just replace it with another factory Subaru Clutch or just spend a little more money on an aftermarket clutch?? maybe i'll add a lightweight flywheel in there too who knows but if you guys have any good ideas let me know, thanks!

I'd take the cheap route--stock clutch until you iron out your body work.  I'd be willing to help...i have so much work to do on mine, i'll be a semi-pro by the time i'm done.

haha yeah thats what I was thinking I need to save my money where i can i suppose although a stage 2 clutch would be sweet with a light flywheel i doubt the car is worth it anyways i just need a new suby!!

You can get a Exedy stock replacement on EBAY for under $200 shipped. I'm
doing my clutch soon and was thinking of trying the F1 stage 1 clutch on EBAY
for a little over $200 shipped. I would like to hear impressions of a light weight
flywheel in a daily driver. I'm thinking about maybe going this route if people
give me positive feedback on the idea.

yeah i was just thinking about a nice stage 1 clutch even, doubt i need any higher for dd!! But stock OEM Subaru Clutches are just not the best and i want something to last and that can handle my abuse on a daily basis, i can't help myself sometimes haha....flywheel would be nice but what you said do i really need it for dd if people say its worth it and i have the tranny out then heck why not but if not its not something i'm worried about i just need my car to get me from point A to point B, i also need to do brakes why'll i'm at it this is going to be a fun whole in my wallet!!

so the car is going in the shop next week sometime i am getting a new clutch kit not OEM just an aftermarket clutch i've been feeling pretty lazy and didn't feel like doing it myself and the brakes also need to be done i didn't feel as if i had any time to do any of this with school just starting up but i gotta say i am excited to have a nicer clutch and brakes that actually work i'll have the car back by the end of next week, no flywheel decided to save my money more or less for a newer car!!
