it seems as if i have to turn my head on alot of your pictures dave, not complaining but i think you need some upside down shots now, and btw i'm liking the seats i've seen a few baja's with the caps on the back, thinking about going that route?!?!?!

I'm going to get the flat bedcover, most likely black Vinyl.  I like the visibility I have, and the bed cover will give me a 2-3 mpg highway increase in fuel economy, according the the NASIOC Baja guys.

And my twisted pictures are teh rice, i know.  The picture of the undercarriage was taken upside-down, but I held the camera upside down, and canceled it out.  Getting the fabric onto the rears will be a good winter project.

Thanks for the comments!

Here's an update, with some pics from pre-winter.  This is with the modded grille, but without the v7 wheels.
The new hood is coming in the spring.(last pic)

New Hood.  The current owner is a student and will be shipping it to me at the end of the month.  I got it pretty cheap, but the shipping is going to be pretty horrendous on it.  Still cheaper that buying a new one.  It was installed on an outback H6 previously.

As long as it's march when it gets here, and it's warm enough.  I'm sure it'll look....'interesting'.  :coolsmiley:

I recognize that car.

It had a JDM Legacy suspension and some other odd goodies not normally seen on Outbacks.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Yep, his user name on most forums is outbackGT.  It was a very interesting project he began, but he was having reliability issues with the h6 as it aged.  :-( His frustraion is my gain!

Ahahahaha!  The hood has been shipped!

In mere days I will have it!  Or a pile of CF pieces, hopefully not.  Now, if spring could speed up a little bit.

Ok, got the hood patched up and the patches painted with gloss black.  the repairs are obvious up close but from a distance, nothing is apparent.  Also, a crappy cell phone pic makes it look better too .

Ha!  It's on, ITS ALIVE!!!

Here are some bad pics with the hood mounted up.  Big thanks to my little GF, I couldn't have done it without her help.  Definitely a 2-person job.  The new hood weighs 21 pounds.  The factory steel hood with insulation and the splitter weighs 50.  I'm pretty sure this is the only baja in the world with a CF hood.  Pretty nifty.

My phone and Al's camera were out of commission, so we were stuck using Al's cell phone.

It's definitely multi-colored right now.  Once summer hits i'll probably be spraying the sides of the hood red, leaving the middle bare CF, and spraying the middle of the bumper black.  I think I'll be leaving the roof alone though.

Then, I'll be painting the RS wheels gloss black with a red 'time attack' stripe near the outside edge.  The chrome bars on the back will probably be getting a coat of gloss black with a red ring around the top and the bottom, and the grille will be getting blacked out too.

Ok, this weekend:

-Did an oil change, switched to synthetic and I'm staying that way.  Castrol Syntec, no problems so far.

-Installed the Baja bedcover that I bought from Capitaland.  Go Fred!  BTW, totally destroys the bed rails.

-Installed Pioneer DEH-P6600 Head Unit with ebay ipod adapter.  Woot for tunes!  Had to carve up the stock radio surrounds with a dremel to get it to fit.

-Installed Schroth 4-point harnesses, for autocross use only.  I'm not stupid enough or 'fast and furious' enough to use harnesses on the street. :-D

-Bent the exhaust hangars straight and installed the JDM B4 Blitzen Axleback.  Sounds very much like an sti axleback, which it is in essesnce, with a bigger tip.

Playing with the MAP gas blowtorch and some huge pipe pliers was very theraputic.  A friend recently passed, and it let me work out some aggression in a positive way.I'll post some pics of the new mods in the near future.

Sweet! you finally got the axle-back on! How does it look under the car... can you see it at all or is it pretty much hidden by all the extra bumper on the cruck?
