Apparently, someone told the world to piss me the hell off today. Woke up, made some pancakes for Al and I, and then the shit hit the fan.

1. Went out to where my car was parked to go to the mall...overnight it had turned into a construction zone and my Baja was GONE.
Turns out i was 'parked on the curb' and the Waterford Po charged me 50 bucks. They then TOWED my car, and charged me for that too. Now, i was parked on the curb. But there's no way that's a 'tow-impound' ticket! The Town didn't bother to tell anyone there was going to be construction, so instead of notifying us, they towed all 4 cars that were parked there.

Whatever fuckhead touched my car managed to rip the freakin weatherstripping behind the front driver's window. And now, i'm getting a very faint whine and mild vibration when coasting in 3rd and 4th gear. This may have been there before, but I didn't notice. Also, the fuckhead must have been soaking wet, because there is dried muddy water all over both sides of the car, not to mention several scratches in the paint.

So, I was told where my car was parked, and retrieved it. Went to the mall, where everyone was driving really slow. On the way back, I was on Rt32, stuck behind some blue-haired dinosaur in a Buick for 3 miles or so.

Obviously, the damage is not a result of the police, so i'm not pissed at them. But the construction? Come on! Total Bullshit.

It was a bad day. I'm now out 100 bucks for that parking shit, and my car's got some cosmetic and maybe mechanical damage. /rant

Damn... I would of made sure the guy that towed it had a flat bed before even moving it... Cause if he didn't your center diff is going to be EFFED.... Get a Lawyer if anything is FUXORED....

Well.. I Got 200$ for you for the suspension... Give me a call this week when you can come get it..OR Next weekend I'll be down that way for the NMMR drive....

hmm.. If you wait till next weekend I might get the money around to buy the tails too! I'm kind of attached to em already.... Unless you sold them....

The Waterford Police just called, to tell me to pay the "impound fee" to towing place, or the place might press charges and force the Po to issue a Warrant.

$50 - Illegally Parked on Curb (Waterford)
$50 - Towing fee? (Waterford)(WTF, can't bill me twice for the same thing, can they?)
$145 - Impound Fee (Towing/Storage Place)

FUCK ME. I'm going to attempt to negotiate with the towing place, being as they tore the rubber trim around my door and scratched my paint. I'll also be inspecting their tow vehicle. I'm also seriously contemplating paying for the impound in quarters.

The guy running the tow/impound shop told me the following
1 - He never actually got inside the car...he couldn't. So Yea. He admitted to doing the damage, and signed a form I wrote up saying he towed the vehicle, the date, and he saw the damage he had caused. Also, he wasn't an asshole either, and was genuinely sorry about the damage. He was also impressed with the theft resistance of the baja, and liked the vehicle as a whole.

2 - He hoisted the rear wheels, and towed the car backwards at 5mph the mile or so to the shop. Would this cause any damage? I'm pretty sure it did, I definitely am noticing some minor grinding noises when my foot is off the gas, and the car is in gear.

3 - He waived the storage fee, since I stole the vehicle out of the impound lot after only 4 hours, he said chuckled and said he couldn't charge me for the whole day. So, it only cost me $120, instead of $145.

Today wasn't bad...but damn, I'm tired and broke. I want my 4-pots!

Sorry to hear about the bad news!! WTF!
If the nice towing gentleman disconnected the front axle then you should be fine.
If he did not, towing it backwards, only on the front wheels, the center differential axle coupling (not sure what the technical name is) just received quite a bit of needless wear.
I sure hope he knew what he was doing.
AWD= Flat Bed Every Time, and that towing company should know that.

I would bring him a copy of the owners manual showing him how to tow a subaru only after you get a written statement buy him explaning how lifting the rear tires and only drove 5 mph

sure he did. then explain that your car is making a drivetrain related noise that was not there prior to the vehicle being towed. and then see if will cover any fees you incur to make sure your car is not damaged because he didn't flat bed the car, THE CORRECT WAY!!!!

I have a written statment saying "I towed the vehicle with this towtruck". And I got a picture of the tow truck, being not a flatbed. He also acknowledged, in writing, that he caused the damage to the window trim.

Can I go after Waterford because they hired someone to tow a vehicle that did not know what they were doing? I might call a law office or 2 tonight to see if I have a case.

Dang man, sorry to hear. At least the towing guy was cool, that really surprised me. What's the update w/the PoPo/city? I would def get a lawyer and sue the city. Better move quick though cause I think statute of limitations against gov't are pretty tight.

yeah thats right awd vehicles cannot be towed like that, so i guess i am learning something in school sweet at least i know its not a whole waste, flatbed's for subarus FTW, sorry to hear dave hope everything is ok on the baja!!!
