"Tagged" Cards
« on: January 30, 2008, 08:20:18 PM »
I have been asked if we have any type of 'tagging' cards to leave on people's windshields.

As far as I know, we don't.  However, it would help get membership and spread teh Word of Soc.  What say you guys?

Anyone got any ideas for designs?

I think the stickers on peoples cars does wonders... Yes I was told about the site, by robp, but I saw a BE with a UNYSOC sticker on it and it reminded me to come check out the site....

But yeah I would be down for some tagging material.. I normally leave some impromptu torn up reciept with UNYSOC.org in sharpie under peoples wipers.. thats prolly more of a turn-off....Done it a few times with NO success....

I would suggest doing license plate frames, but as far as I know, you can now be pulled over for having one one (even a dealership one) ...

I tend to notice the license plate brackets more often than a sticker (plus, stickers are permanent).

Yes, you can be pulled over for having any of those brackets on your car - personally, if a police officer pulls you over for one of those that isn't more flashy or doesn't cover up more than the dealership ones, they are just being a prick.

I was up in Plattsburgh about 2-3 weeks ago, and didn't see a single WRX/STi except for one southbound on the Northway (I was headed north).  :-(

I don't really remember much of the trip - I do remember going to the AF base on a burn cruise (that's about it)

I do have some stickers left, the ones that say 'unysoc.org' in plaintext.  I'll give anybody that wants them one, but I only carry them to meets--so we'll have to have some of dem.

Tagged cards, I think, are a great idea still.  They are cheap, depending on what we do. Here's My idea:

Design a "Nice sooby, you've been tagged by member:________ on www.unysoc.org.  Drop on by the site and check out our community." card.  Then, laminate it so it's weather-resistant. note, you'd then have to write your memberid on it with sharpie.

A meet would be a great idea! I've been talking with some people on other forums who have done a lot of meet planning, trying to get some good ideas for one, but it's still in the works.

I don't know the next time I'll be up in Plattsburgh - I have a buddy who goes to school up there (this was the first time I had been up in the 6 years he's been up there).

If you guys want LP frames I have a company that has pretty good prices. I am still debating for my site. The more you buy the cheaper they are.

Dave- has the info for the spotted cards, the cards are free you just pay around $20 for S/H.

Jay-R got some REALLY nice spotted cards made up for CNY.  He even tested them with water, heat, and cold to make sure they wouldn't leave marks on the windshields.

I got bored tonight, since I have no life.  The pic is from an autocross last year with byron's wing/roof, and Devin's Red WRX.  Here's the prototype I thought up:

I suppose you'd have to write member name on them with a white or silver sharpie.  :|
I'd like to stress that this is a prototype--even if everyone loves it Devin and Byron still need to give me permission to use the pic, because they're in it.  Let me know what you all think, and by all means, plop down your ideas too!

Dave- Something to remember, the free card site is very picky with the pictures. If you need help let me know and I will get Yen to help you out. My first attempt at it got disapproved, Yens first attempt got approved.

Your design looks great, you could always place a white box somewhere on it.

Yeah, Barry and I put them through the test. They hold up extremely well and the colors do not run off. I rubbed a hole in a wet one trying to get the ink to come off on my hand.

I'd recommend a different color so write in is easy and convenient... other than that, its good.  I don't get to give any out anyways, so please disregard my opinion readily :)

I'm going to tweak the design a little more, then I want to send it to the place that Jay-R got his cards done.  I think it was 30 bucks plus shipping for like 1000 of them, with this crazy pink advert for the company on the back.  Still a good deal though.

Let me know if you wanna pitch in.

Total was about $30 for S/H. No charge for the cards. However if you dont like the "pink" side you pay $300+ the low side being plain white, so $30 plus free advertising for the card company is a great deal, IMHO.
