$3.99 9/10 !RANT!
« on: April 30, 2008, 11:09:41 PM »
soooo   i just payed one tenth of a cent short of 4 dollars for got damed gasoline. :tickedoff:  my last $34 and it goes in my tank.   i got 5/8ths.   what the frig?!?!   why cant we just drill and refine our own oil?!   i know we are capable, ughhh.  that just rubs me the wrong way.  only cuz i know that when i put every last dollar into my tank to drive from utica to albany then to kingston to see my girlfriend then back every weekend end, that all im doing is lining the riches pockets with more loot.   damn

i just filled up at 3.93 but it was 3.99 down the street.  I got 20 MPG this tank and that was with 2 shifts at Domino's where I had to deliver. No too bad I guess.(mpg I mean).  I'm afraid we're gonna have to raise their mileage compensation though...$.28 per mile at 20 MPG = $5.60 per gallon used. It's barely covering the cost of gas let alone added maintenance costs.

Thank our fatass government.  We spend too much, then we borrow to spend, then the value of the dollar sinks, then commodities like oil skyrocket.

Gotta love it.  All our higher ups are in the oil business too.  Look how much it has gone up since that @$$hole bush stole the office.  I think it was 1.something when he and vp took office and then bam, up it went.
Time for the gov, someone there, to remember us, and try to help out instead of seeing how much money they can make.
At least remove the taxes from gas and watch gas stations so they dont price gouge

Sort of like 2 20 gallon tanks at 10mpg?

Not that I like the prices, but we're still paying less for gas than Canada.

We get $.53 per mile, so that helps.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

true, but G.W.Bush is just a puppet.  he just moves his mouth and says what the people off camera tell him too. its alot bigger than just him.  given the gas prices did go up when he got in, but when one of these other people get in, the prices will probly stay the same or close to what they are.   but i realllllly hope im wrong.

Sad thing is our gas prices are lower than ^ like you said, Canada, probably all of Europe, probably Mexico too.  Only bc our gas taxes are lower though.  They should be lower than they are now.  Isn't gasoline by itself at about 1 dollar something even right now?

gas is expensive in europe too

Most expensive places to buy gas
Rank    Country    Price/gal
1.    Sierra Leone    $18.42
2.    Aruba    $12.03
3.    Bosnia-Herzegovina    $10.86
4.    Eritrea    $9.58
5.    Norway    $8.73
6.    United Kingdom    $8.38
7.    Netherlands    $8.37
8.    Monaco    $8.31
9.    Iceland    $8.28
10.    Belgium    $8.22
111.    United States    $3.45

More:
In the U.S., the federal tax on gas is about 18 cents a gallon, pretty low by international standards.

But those relatively low gas taxes make it hard now for Americans to deal with gas prices that have risen from around $1 to over $3 a gallon in the last seven years.

yeah, that's the big problem - while prices rise, our buying power hasn't risen with it and we all get stretched thin.   The dollar, the dollar, the dollar.  lol

So what's everyone's opinion on McCain's proposed "Gas Tax Holiday"?

If more people would start smoking tobacco, and weed was legallized and regulated and taxed, the extra revenue from that could be used to cover our debts.

this is both a joke and a legit idea.

But then Gov't subsidized health care prices would rise.

i havent smoked either nor will i.  but i do believe that if alcohol is legal, then so should be pot.  the government would make a KILLING on the taxes. and it would reduse drug trafficing.  so many drug dealers are too scared to deal coke or anything stronger than pot, therfor making it legal would get rid of those people.  it would be a win win.  i dont get why they dont...

Yeah pot should definitely be legalized.  Actually, I think there's some kind of a march/protest going on in Albany today about legalizing marijuana.
