Well, I recently became a member of the club.  Picked up my first bike, a mint condition 07 Kawasaki Ninja 250 on Saturday.  It's currently stored in a friend's garage while I take care of the title paperwork with the DMV.

Nope.  I figured this would give me a better opportunity to learn how to be a better rider.   Plenty of opportunity for larger displacement down the road.

Yea there's always time to get a bigger bike. Chances are you will grow out of this quick. Although plenty of us have started off on bike WAY to big, myself included. Just take it easy and stay out of the city for awhile.

Also get yourself some GOOD gear!! I.e. leather gloves, jacket, boots, and helmet. Lot easier to identify a bruised body then a rashed one.

Too bad I live in downtown Troy! There goes the cautious approach.  Guess I"ll be doing most of my learning in empty parking lots and carefully riding back home.  Picked up the helmet already - Scorpion EXO1000.  A bit heavy, but as they say it's built like a tank and I'm not planning on doing 4 hour rides for a long time.  I'll get another helmet for that.   Was going to wait on the jacket till spring,  to see what size I end up after a long winter at the gym.  I don't see myself going out riding anytime before march/april.  Not with the BS winters we have up here.

That's what I'll be doing for 4 months.  I keep telling myself "If this were Florida, you could be riding today..."
