wow that black wagon looks really good for being done by hand, no swirls!!
I just got my car done by the dealership i get service done at and I have buffer marks everywhere.
Gabe is in Florida so I had to find a new place, and it came out awful
I just purchased a porter cable and pads and have a few pickup truck boxes to practice on before I even think about using it on my car.
I figure you have to do it yourself, if if you want it done the right way these days.

Photofixer, was wondering if you could share some tips for swirl removal by hand, my swirls cant get any worse, and I would like to do something about it, while i practice with the porter cable in the mean time. Would love to stop by sometime real soon to see your process.

HAHA you can come over too on Sat..LOL

Well their is a long way and a Short way.

If you do it right the first time you can get by every week doing the Short way. It takes alot of time and patience but you see the end result.

Porter cable huh. A 7242 or  7336?  Where you get it? Lowes has em for 50 some times on sale.

Remember if using liquid poilish or wax. Don't use a lot and place it in the middle of the applicator pad. Otherwise you spin wax everywhere.
use a 18 x 18 " area. Apply left to right till box is full. then up and down till box is full. work the wax in at 3 till its broken down.
Once Its even, Turn up the Speed and buff the area till Clean and polished.

LIGHT! to moderate pressure with the applicator pad. Otherwise you WILL scratch your Finish.

The porter Cable is a beautiful invention is allows NUBS like us to detail or own cars and not put swirl marks in it. Saves ALOT OF TIME.

I kinda enjoy my time with my car.Considering I only drive it on weekends..

Process is really quite simple.

Wash car,
Dry Car,
Spot treat Car,
Clay Car,
Clean car,
Wipe clean area to treat.
begin with light abrasive Compound and use FINE SMALL little circles until it is even coated and broken down.
APPLY neccessary coats till scratch is removed or whatever.

Then Top it off with mequiars Gold Class.
then Top it off with Mequiars No 26!  That's the ticket right their...

Finish with detail spray..

Thanks for looking at my car.  You did a great job.  Sucks that its a deep scratch.    And i have to say, you do a hell of a job with your car.  To keep black looking like that and I didn't see any swirls.

Its Funny Keith Came over with his car like two hours later .>LOL did the whole thing over again..

Poor Guy Got his car Fuckzord by the dealer.
Pleasure meeting you as well.
We got to some of it before it started to rain on us.

That car needs some tender loving car to bring it back to life . I told Keith to give me a call some weekend soon.

We managed to Clay the entire car and do most of the hood.

Still needs alot of work... Keith seems happy thus far..

We'll keep this thread going.  Looking for a good polish.
Forgot what you told me about.  Was looking online at Klasse AIO.  Need to get out the dealer swirls,  Went and got me claybar/ cali duster/ still have my poorboys wax
Need a polish and thinking of also getting the p21 gel wheel cleaner stuff.  think thats what it was.

on side note, may have to take you up on that offer you threw at me.  Just to start her off on a good foot and then easier for me to maintain.

AH, found your detailing guide and found the products.
question about scratch-x.  Do you use it for the entire car as a swirl remover or for just bad areas?  I see most of pics have the Nu stuff

I was just using that for pictures.. IF you look at the write Up i put in their that you should use.. Bla bla bla Nu Finish Rarely used. Use Mequiars Scratch X, Or Autoglym Super Resin Polish For Complete Swirl removal by HAND

Mequiar's :No 26 is the stuff I told you. Remember it was yellow.

I would use the Scratch X for Areas that need it. YOUR HOOD> in its entirety.  :tickedoff: Fucking IDIOTS..
Doors and top of roof. NU Finish  .
Nu Finish Rarely used. Use the Mequiars Scratch X, Or Autoglym Super Resin Polish For Complete Swirl removal by HAND. You Have a Portcable.. Don't be scared to use it. I bet you could do that whole hood by your self in thirty minutes and have it look like it just got painted and washed. :coolsmiley:

You can not hurt the hood any more than it already is remember that . Other than remove the paint LOL

If you wanna come over again. And any one wants to join  say something now...LOL otherwise just pm me brother..
