THanks guys,
Skyphix, the car is a 5-speed limited. It took me a long time to find a manual transmission, and ended up driving to north of Boston to buy this one. I wasn't necessarily looking for a Limited, it's just what this happened to be.
I drove the car stock for about a year. Six months into owning it, I hated it, and considered trading it back in on another WRX wagon (what I came out of), but I really needed the space since I camp/kayak/bike and often tow a 14' whitewater raft. The WRX wasn't cutting it from a space/gear hauling perspective, so the only option was to try and make it handle better. While it's no WRX, it'll suffice until it's time for a new vehicle. The handling is 200% better than stock, but not quite up to stock WRX standards. There's just no overcoming the additional weight.
On the upside, the Outback is more buttoned down than the WRX. Meaning, it seems just a little bit more solid overall (doors shut with more "thud" and less tinny "ping". The giant sunroof is sweet, and the extra space offers more utility.
It'll do...for now.
