disclaimer: do whatever you want to your car.  its yours and i don't care.

nowadays every tom, dick, and sally has a modified car.  to help explain the extent of modification people adopted the name 'stages' or levels.  my gripe with this is that there is no standard across manufacturer's to simplify 'staged' tuning.  this is why i avoid the later terms when speaking of modified cars.  in honesty though, who really cares if a stage 1 dinan car has different mods than a stage 1 cobb car its not a big deal.  What is annoying someone saying i have 'stage x' what can i do for more power, or whats wrong with my car its got 'stage x' and runs like a bag of shit.

so when posting please just include a description of your car and mods.  it will make things easier.  i have no idea what a stage x STi is nor do i care.  What would be useful is year, make, model, transmission, mods.

with factory turbo subaru's becoming more affordable, the sea of cheap aftermarket parts, and the inception of open-source tuning it easy to want more from your car.  With forums spreading mis-information it is to think you can have all this performance for cheap too.  However, these cars are engineered well from the factory and when you modify them it can become very involved.  If you think you can throw any old part on your car and have it run like factory you are mistaken.  If you think you can throw said part on your car and get an off-shelf remap and have it run like factory once again, your wrong.  Off the shelf maps are pre-canned tame maps with the bare essentials to get your car running after to modified it.  While they work for the majority a custom tune is recommended.

separately, what is going on with multiple "i have an exhaust and want a tune threads"?  Tuning for a stock turbo car with an tbe and misc. parts, is involved but not lengthy.  Power and smoothness can be realized but you are still within the constraints of the stock turbo/wastegate/fbc.  Many changes are made to the programming but there are usually not multiple re-calibrations, or tedious troubleshooting necessary.  There are a few members on here that I have helped out with tuning.  BradleyGT, AckAttack, DeadlyDave, Keifer, Bignickbugeye, blufnrckar, darroj, dw0095, Dom, GhettoscoobGC, Red04WRX and HyprBlckWRX.  If you need or want help and don't know me or think im a dick, get a reference from anyone listed above.

all joking aside, this is a good point. keep an open mind when getting more involved with your car, and don't make assumtions from advertisment and hearsay. seans proved multiple times hes got a grip on what hes talking about, as well as other people on this forum.

a good starting point is knowing what you want from your investment. if all you want is a nice shiny exaust tip with a nice growl and a "whoosh" sound everytime you shift, thats great, just know what your getting into before you bitch and complain about how the car runs afterward.

word, stages dont mean jack to me, granted im new to this turbo and heavily modding world!! i could care less what stage my car or your car is at....what mods did you do and what are your numbers?? those are questions i feel more prone to asking

your car could be at stage 5, (hypothetical), who gives a shit, i dont know what that means as im sure alot of us wouldnt know off the top of our heads....

stages seem to bland of a subject and i feel newbs use them as to categorize where their car is (like i know what you mean by stage 2) but thats just IMO!

like styles stated list out your mods, tell us what you have done to the car, this now coming from a reader's point of view! its easier to understand for both the reader and the tuner reading it!!

Fuel recall

****i can't believe they finally recalled this.. its been 7, almost 8 years since 02's were new<roll eyes>

my point is it slights all the original owners that complained and were denied and eventually moved onto another car whether subaru or other.  honestly, who owns one car for 4+ years? (if purchased new) who would've owned the car long enough to finally get it recalled for free?  i think only WRXwagon fits that description. It would've  included me for those last questions if i kept it for another 3 months.

good job subaru, but it doesn't help any of the original owners who purchased the cars from you.  Unless of course they held onto the car that long and it somehow managed to survive 8 years of inclimate weather in the states in which the recall is effective.  all you 2+ owner cars rejoice!  our complaints have been heard.***

this has nothing to do with the other thread.  i made this to not "shoot the messenger" or litter freds with my opinion.

But replaceing a Clutch is so much fun, I just might keep up the Driving..   ,,  OH and a possible Rear diff...  :2funny:  I might replace it with a stocker from Fred IF i have that issue, OR I might just get a Cusco LSD 1.5.  Otherwise.. Time to start saving and searching for a 6MT.  Oh and a valve cover gasket is JUSt starting to seep oil.  :tickedoff:

Time to fix it .. Add Cams and get ahold of Dom..   When it's paid off .. I am gonna go and see Fred at Capitaland.. Those STI's look soo fucking hot.. :buck2:   by then . .they might have a STI forester..

I agree, subaru pulled a GM-like 'dick move' by sitting on this for so long.

Also, I've heard from reliable sources that "M3 owners have no friends."
