Just as a heads up....Ricers tend to bother cars more with the 'pshhhht'.  You could always just let them take off at the light, pretending like you're going to race and not.  Uh, Since I really didn't contribute anything, I'd also like to say, it's your car, rock to your own beat.

It's fun to bait a car into a race - like when you line up with a DB9 at 20/155 and "race him" up to 45, then let him fly by you, only to get nailed by a G-land police officer sitting about a mile ahead

why would you want to get a BOV? the stock BPV is good to almost 20 psi before it would start leaking.

not blow up tomarro, but since your car is maf the air you are venting is already metered by your ecu.  which since your venting now it will throw off your air fuel ratio...sorry for ramble... cruefest was fun tonite =P

If you want a noise maker get a k&n typhoon or similar cai just make sure its a quality piece and not ebay junk because the ebay just can be detrimental to performance aswell...

a BOV isn't going to blow a motor up, it will just run rich between shifts. Rich is better than lean, and the most that will happen is you will get a bit of a bog.

I've had an ebay junk bov on my car for 50k(im not bragging) and my car runs stronger than any other "stock"(intake & CBE) wrx that i know of. Just ask jwelder13.I was going to remove it after being "scared by the mumbo jumbo but i've never had any kind of problem whatsoever. And my car pulls harder to redline. Also the turbo spools faster which means target boost comes quicker. Hence quicker between shifts. The bov will not blow your engine. Remember, most aftermarket part that you put on your car (engine) decreases the amount of total mileage that you would get compared to leaving it stock.Drive it like you stole it and burn that fuel. make sure you have good plugs and do routine (or more than) PM. I have talked to alot of people about this, subaru genius's and nobody's. but when I switch from non to with, I NOTICE the difference and I like it, therefore I keep it. Just my 2cents. -Jake (also i really dont care if my engine blows it just gives me a reason to go with an sti motor)

edit: just noticed you have an 04' they are a little more sensitive than my 03' ecu wise, Good Luck

Meh, just like the guy above me my opinion is just an opinion, but BOV's are a waste of time unless you are going huge power.

My car, which is much faster than the poster above's ( :-P ) has had it's stock BOV for many miles. Spend your money on a filter and Turbo back then a tune.

if you get an intake you WILL hear the stock BOV, and if that isn't what you wanna hear then i would at very least get a 50/50 BOV to try and help satisfy your MAF. I thought i wanted an atmospheric BOV then i put on an INJEN CA and its sound SIIIIIIICK!!! And i do'nt have to worry about negative side affects.
