Since Jon so politely invited my opinion on Utica.

It is a worthless shithole.  People, for the most part, are equally worthless.  And the drivers are terrible, mainly because everyone's got a shitbox.  Part of the problem is that every time there's construction, they don't replace some of the stupid signs they take down.  Important stuff, like a Yield sign that's been missing for 4 goddamn years at the walmart-49 intersection.  I have almost gotten hit there in every one of my cars.  I had someone block me in a parking spot and threaten me for 'cutting him off', when a yield for his lane was removed.

In short, Utica is good beacuse
-The 'baddies' are either too broke or too lazy to have a gun.
-I felt like an intellectual god while there.

Utica is bad for everything else.

i agree very well put dave. altho some of the finer points of utica...
the cops dont really care how fast you go or what you do because people get shot all the time and they have there hands full. Driving somones jeep (will not mention) through wally world / price choppa parkinglot and blasting shopping carts. blowing up porta poties (and creek partys)

The weather there is mondo depressing, and i think that's the root of the problem.  It's one of the cloudiest cities in america, by number of cloudy days per year.  And it rains/drizzles/snows quite often, adding to the dreariness.

I thought I was  the only person who noticed that Pollutica was a dreary shithole.  I've been only ONCE, for a buddy's wedding.  Every other time involved passing through on 90 west, heading towards Siberacuse or the 1000 islands region.  Utica sucks.  It sucks so bad it sucks to even look at from the highway, miles from downtown.  I can't think of anything else to say. 

Oh.  Girly reminded me it does have one upside:  Chicken Riggies.  Whatever the fuck they are.

any time i would explain utica to someone thats one of the first points id bring up, the general shit-ness.  my mom didnt believe me untill she came out to visit and was all like "i thought you were lying, but wow this does suck."  plus it makes skate-able days few and far between.

I have a real problem with people who speed through construction zones.  I don't normally work on the road, but on occasion we end up blocking a lane off and flagging..something simple.  I have had my share of people try to make me a permanent hood ordiment so I feel for those guys.  For example, on I87 today in the construction zone for exit 6, I was doing about 55 in the farthest right lane heading South and two Honda ricers come speeding through chasing each other.  OF ALL THE TIMES there has been a trooper at the U-turn, there wasn't. (Im assuming they had a radar detector or other wise they are just BEYOND stupid.  They have jersey barriers up in some sections, but there are segments that are open to let the dumptrucks in. and the contstruction workers were open to traffic. People like that are a waste of skin.

Speaking of boneheads and douchebags, let me rant on this for a bit.  What pisses me off is that THIS KIND OF SHIT will happen.  You'll have two assholes racing each other blatantly in a construction zone in heavy traffic.  Nobody will do shit about it.
Meanwhile a week later, you're calmly driving your barely-modified vehicle around town with an exhaust that's half a decibel louder than stock, and johnny law decides to pull you over and hassle your car from nose to tail.  You'll be the one that ends up with an exhaust ticket.  Meanwhile, the other prick asshole motherfuckers have found another construction zone to play Tokyo Extreme Racer.
And they wonder why i'm bitter.

And Dave, you forgot one of Utica's finer points... The availability of drugs {mainly crack}.
I will say though, there arent a lot of shootings out here... Esepcailly not compared to Skinnytady or Albany.  The place is a shithole, and there is constant problems with drugs, domestic violence, not caring for kids, animals, robbery, vandalism.. There isnt a lot of shootings and gang stuff compared to some areas.

It took me a while to beat that game. The last car was super quick, the only way I beat him was to start the race in the right place and make him crash into a toll booth.
