need keyless entry
« on: November 03, 2008, 10:17:15 AM »
Anyone know of any good places to get keyless entry installed on a vehicle?
The RS currently does not have it and I can tell already with the cold wheather starting up that I'm going to have problems with the locks all winter.
Anyone have any idea how much something like this should cost?
Thanks

at my old work we had stock trucks without the keyless entry, and we had like 8 of these things put in.  the one issue you will run into is if the door doesnt have the actuator arm in the door already.  if it does, then it is less expensive (maybe like 200).  however if you dont have that in your car then the whole actuator assembly must be installed.  i think we ended up payin around 300 bucks a truck(this was a few years ago, the prices may have changed or i might have forgotten what we actually paid).  we had ours done at some shop on freemans bridge rd in glenville, but i would call around to see who actually carriers the parts you need, and what it will cost to have it installed. (the stores that do it are most likely places like boomer mcloud or other car audio/accessory places)

I'm pretty sure that was standard equipment on the RS so all the parts should be there.  My 98 RS had it and every car RS that I have ever driven/looked at had it.  Most likely all you will need is pick up the appropriate key fob things and then have them programmed.

By the way, the shop on freemans bridge rd is Auto Solutions. They really are a good business. Mike, one of the owners, is a good friend of mine. Tell em Miguel sent you and it probably wont make a difference because he is nice to everyone  :2funny: hehe
Whoever smelt it dealt it.

A friend should be doing the keyless entry and remote start soon, so I should be all set.
Thank you for the info anyway though.
