losing boost?
Only a couple things can cause boost values to change.  Here are a few: **note to thread critics: this is not an all inclusive list**
1. A significant change in exhaust system can cause changes in boost levels depending on your type of boost control (percent or raw psi). This could include an exhaust leak.
2. A boost leak somewhere in the charge piping; this could include a stuck open BOV or a BOV with the wrong sensing line location.
3. A loose conection in your boost control circuity (electric wires or vacuum hoses).

Sounds like he worked something else loose on accident. Tell him to triple check all the plumbing from the turbo to the intake.

My buddy and I put a CAI on his Eclipse and went for a  drive. It got ugly quick. The inlet to the side mount IC came loose and we didn't catch it for three hours of troubleshooting.

We felt pretty dumb afterwards.

I had a mysterious boost/power loss problem when going uphill at 0 to 1lb of boost due to my BOV sticking/drifting open. I lubed it up, tightened the spring and ran a better vacuum line.
