Looks like we've got a new pres.  Historic times we're living in here.   :-)  only a massive economic hole to dig out of now.     It's going to be an interesting term.

I was waiting for this thread. haha......ready.......fight!
I walked down to our voting machine and gave my vote.  It took it and sent it Obama's way.   I just couldn't have someone so like bush, but I have the deepest respect for McCain, he is a vietnam vet/pow.  I hope him the best.

In any case, like the winner or not, definitly a historic day we have just lived through and now he has one hell of a job to do to set this country straight again.

Let's keep the Comments like that Silent. You do realize you could go to jail if someone actually read that? Hope it doesn't happen.

Barrack Obama  Has made history and I am glad to actually be here to see it. He represents all things American! What we stand For, What we fight For, and what we die for!

I wish I would of had a chance to vote, My Constitutional Right was taken from me yesturday.  I  was in the fileld for 19 hrs yesturday 915 miles in service calls.

Anyways Doesn't look like I needed to vote, But I would OF LOVED to be a part of history. And being able to say I Voted for the First African American President and he WON!

WOOT OBAMA! :coolsmiley:

Politics is such a touchy topic, I don't see why people get Soo upset. I guess we are all free to make our own decisions, Isn't that what's So great about the country which we love?

Racism, Stereotypical Comments and thoughts... Really Do NEED to stop! Please keep them to yourself Brother...

I'm just glad that this whole campaigning thing is over with. I'm tired of people asking me who I was going to vote for and why and then get the "shun the non believer" look whenever I said neither. It started off with my reasons were because I haven't been keeping up with who was offering what to make this country move forward for the better, and felt that if I did cast my vote, without further researching each candidate's backgrounds and proposals, I would find myself in regret of choosing whoever if things I hoped from them didn't turn out the way it should have. However I still received the same "shunned" responses.

So I ended up resorting to using the response, "No Engrish", the past few weeks when asked who I was going to vote for and that pretty much worked. Until immigration showed up.  :buck2:

Either outcome would have been a history maker, first female vp or first non white president, but in the end I'm happy I stayed up to watch it happen.

What is sad is that you don't feel comfortable with expressing your opinion but then again it may be a sign that you may need re-evaluate why you feel you should just keep your mouth shut.  Is your opinion uninformed, ignorant, racist...?  My guess is yes.

I saw some funny shit this morning on Rte. 2 out by Grafton, some upstanding member of society found it appropriate to spray paint "Fuck Obama" in 3 ft high letters on his/her fence.  It would have been easier to just paint "I AM WHITE TRASH" on his/her fence because that is what the majority of people who drive by are going to think no matter who they voted for.

It's true, her English isn't good, but she tries sooo hard. Al no eego wa ii desune!

You'll get there Al.  :smitten:

p.s. Historic event, historic day. Hopefully Obama can get something done given the Democrat majority throughout right now. Though I think McCain would have been a good leader I expect he would have been cut off from doing anything great due to party politics. The problem with our political system is the parties, period.

p.p.s. A lot of people feel that there's enough ignorant racism in this country for Obama to be in trouble. I'm not one of them, but I fear for our Commander and Chief to be. That being said, imagine how close people are going to be watching him? Forget the ignorant racists, think of the agenda'd politically powerful racists. He'll end up impeached at the drop of a hat. I just hope he can do some good.

No actually not-to be perfectly honest with you I think the vast majority of society are ignorant mindless followers with no minds of there own. I think if I actually stated and went into detail of my thoughts that the majority wouldn't understand and probably aren't even willing to give something that is not a narrow opinion of there own any time or consideration anyway and it would be a waste of time and my patience-so yeah I'll just keep my mouth shut!!!
-by the way-the idea that someone can not like Obama with being considered a racist is another reason people have no clue :idiot2:

McCain is a stand-up guy, but his generation's time is over.  Alas, I didn't vote, those closest to me know why, but i'm glad things turned out as they did.  I'm glad an election actually went as planned for the first time since W ran.  Change is coming, though Barack's ideas are going to be restrained, that's always what happens to any candidate.

I didn't see any of Obama's supporters planning anything like this:
http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/india-news/two-arrested-in-plot-to-kill-obama-other-blacks_100112276.html

The kicker is, thanks to Bush and the patriot act, the way has been paved to put large organizations like the Klan and the Neo Nazis, in their entirety, in jail with no trial, indefinitely.  All it would take is one crazy person doing something regrettable to put them all on the terrorist list.  Unconstitutional, absolutely.  But very, very plausible.

One interesting observation;  At McCain's speech last night, his peeps were booing and acting like sore losers.  He was doing all he could to contain himself from saying "STFU N00BS!".  Major props to him for getting them to simmer down.

my biggest problem is the young people who said they are all for obama and when id ask why, most of the time all i got was for "change".  nothing else.  it was just dumb with all the famous people on mtv saying obama this and obama that.  i understand that every person has the right to decide for themselves but when a teenager who gets their "news" on E! and tries to say they are informed......... my insides just kind of twist.  i know i dont know everything but i do do my best to look into things and make an informed decision.  i feel like a vast majority of the eligible 25 and under voters did not choose to be informed enough to make a decision for them selves, instead just did what halle barry did and oprah... and kanye west, so on and so forth .  thats just my pure opinion.  i wish the best for us all as a whole not just a few

Yeah.  I saw that too and was sorely disappointed.  I voted for Obama, but i've been a nutcase this time around about being informed on the issues.  Never really gave a shit about elections before, but the second I heard Obama speak, I figured it would be nice to find out more about who he is and what he was pushing.
What REALLY got me was the McCain supporters who voted for him only as a way of voting against Obama.  They didn't understand his issues, but the stereotypes, the accusations and the propoganda certainly got through to them nice and clear.  People can vote for a candidate because they want change...   and know nothing else about him.  That just makes them an ignorant and hopeful voter.  People voting for a candidate because they don't know and don't WANT to know anything about the opposition...   that's just pathetic.  I sat there and watched some of these people screaming about how he's a terrorist, a muslim, a harvard elitist, a communist and was going to take away all their guns.  Couldn't tell them otherwise, either.  The facts could be clear as day and that didn't make a bit of difference to some of those people.
I guess in voting for Obama, sure I was voting for the issues he presented, but I was also voting against the rednecks.  I didn't want to be associated with those people because I don't share common ground with them.  I don't stereotype someone because of race or untrue propoganda and I sure as hell don't punish or ostracize someone for being educated and successful.  I guess I ended up voting against the republican crowd as much as I voted for Obama's issues.
