Goldstien Subaru in Colonie, NY
« on: January 14, 2009, 02:46:47 PM »
hey dave, remember that time you deleted my post..... sad times. I think my post should have been grandfathered in due to the fact it was posted pre-rules.

I bought my car from Goldstein, they smell.

Here you go.   8-)  Please elaborate.

-Any negative reviews are welcome in this topic.  Negative reviews should be backed up with a fact or example of events that formed your opinion.  Simply saying 'deadlydave's dealership sucks' is not the right way to do it.  'deadlydave's dealership sucks because he used Olive Oil for an oil change service' would be the proper way to go.

I went to Goldstein 4-5 years ago to inquire about replacement badges and emblems.  Their parts department brushed me off and were generally unprofessional in attitude, unkempt in appearance, and not knowledgeable or helpful.

haha, youll get to know my sense of humor better this weekend hopefully. That was me messin around. but if I HAVE to....

The salesperson who helped me seemed to be a nice guy. I bought the car, liked my deal, and was ready to enjoy.
Well at pick up they also gave me a little slip that said "WE OWE YOU:"  and there was a list of "extras" that I was supposed to get but they didnt have in stock. Im happy to have my car so I say fine, Ill be back when you call me. No call, but when I call one week later to check up, my stuff is there and who knows how long its been sitting there. anyway they install all the stuff and on my way out i notice my IPOD interface doesnt work... at all. I park and go in. they send out a guy who when he passed the car on asked if i could plug in my IPOD to see if and how it worked. He then proceeded to explain to me how he doesn't do stereos, understandable. Now the sound is coming through but I can not control it from my console. on top of that the dude scratched the plastic next to the stereo trying to pry it out, very obviously with a metal screwdriver. now Im getting pissed. I call the number for complaints and they tell me they will fix the plastic.
If I ever go back there I will let them fix it. I also bought and paid for a brand new sport mesh grill after I bought the car and they didnt want to give me back my original???? WTF??? In order to get it back they had to "dig it out of parts" a nice free part for them to put on someone elses car. you gotta be shittin me. anyway, now you see why I shortened it to:

I got mine from Goldstein, they smell

my sister just bought the managers demo 08 legacy 3.0R limited from goldstein and had an amazing experience. the salesperson was one of the nicest sales guys ive ever met. she got a good deal and she has a lifetime warranty as long as she takes her car there for service. she got i think 5 coupons for free oil changes, she gets free car washes whenever she wants to bring the car in and some other perks as well. great rates too. we as a family usually always get out cars from captialand and i personally will continue to go there with my car except for this one situation now only because i have some coupons and there giving me a decent deal to begin with. i heard a lot of bad things from them but ive only had good experience. that may change tho soon when i get my wrx back lol. well c

Goldstein Subaru put a leaky recalled oil filter on my STI, well after the recall.

They put a couple miles on my STI when I brought it there for an oil change, I have no idea how.

I had them rotate my tires and the receipt said that they checked and set the tire pressure.  So right there in the parking lot I checked my tire pressure and they obviously hadn't checked it after they rotated the tires.

They screwed up an oil change, how the hell do you screw up an oil change?  Oh I remember, they didn't tighten the drain plug and when it was leaking they told me it was fine and to come back some other time because they were busy.

Bunch of retards over at Goldstein Subaru...

.....she gets free car washes whenever she wants to bring the car in....

in response to this i have to say that it wont be worth her time. or anybodys time for that matter.  i brought my car in because the speakers were rattling (come to find out its just the door molding near the speaker, so i just turn the bass down now), anywho, they checked the car for free and then gave me a free car wash.

now a few days before this i had washed my car, and there was a little bit of dust on it, so i was like sweet a free car wash.  however, when i get the car back there are a million water spots, and a million places where i can see dried on soap.  in short, the car was "dirtier" than when i brought it in.

i dont know about you guys, but i flip shit when i wash my own car and i miss spots drying. i hate hate hate water marks.  imagine how i felt when my car was covered in white spots.

yeah, their free car washes are worthless, you could do a better job just spraying it down with a hose.

parts department? well, they can get the parts, if it's really simple, or if you guide them through finding the right one.  Last time I needed something it was this stupid little metal bracket that the exhaust hanger attaches to on the left side of the muffler.  It took me 3 trips there and 2 weeks to get the right part in  :uglystupid2:

it's so frustrating, I've yet to find a dealership around here that I'm actually willing to go to more than once for any kind of work.  (before everyone jumps in, no, I haven't been to capitaland yet. Haven't needed anything major done since I've heard about them  :-D)

haha free car washes, my first courtesy wash was when they washed my black car with a brush and I flipped shit on them. then the service manager had the nerve to say well how old is that car anyway? i said it is its first freakin oil change! then he commented well what kinda of job to you expect for free? i said the common sense not to use a brush on a dark color! so i reemed out stephanie goldstein. she had them do a full detail and the swirls seemed to be gone, two rains storms after, they were all back. they had used a filler and did the job improperly. tdimpreza(gabe) had to buff the whole car out twice to get rid of the goldstein fuck ups! they are rude and obnoxious. :tickedoff:

so apparently i am the only one who has had good experience at goldstein. lol! my sister has gotten her black car a free car wash and it came out great. i just got my car back for $200 less than they originally quoted me on. the car runs great and i got a free car wash myself that came out wonderful.

i still probably wont bring it back since so many people have had problems there but i figured i would post my experience.

Hey man, that's great.  I know Cossey had a good experience there.  Well, he ended up getting a new engine and turbo out of it.

Andy, can you post the story about the STi price/testdrive?

goldstein had a bad rep 3.5 years ago when i got my 06...  I would assume its only a matter of time until management changes and im sure this bad economy will have them changing their ways to get all the business they can.

they might have changed their policy/process in washing cars.  i brought mine in back in june, so its been like 6 months.  a few days after i brought it in they called me to ask about the service, and i told them that my car came back dirtier then when i brought it in.

so, i can only assume that they got a sh*tload of negative feedback and decided to do something about it.

Unfortunaltely I do not have anything nice to say about their dealership.

I bought my 02 wrx thier used with 400 miles on it. The day of delievery it had 179 more miles on it. I know because I wrote down the mileage.
Salesmen took my car joy riding in Saratoga the night before or something. I told them I didn't want the car anymore but they came down Four grand so I took it.

Clutch went at 10k
1st 2nd gear 17K
3rd  4th synchros at 22k
3rd  4th gear 22k

Attourney General and Lemon law and nothing ever came from it.

Clutch at 44K<- Think that was me learning to drive a AWD car. Then just beating the piss out of the car in anger. I will make it break so they give me a new one..I was thinking..

Anyways Its not about the car its about the dealership.  The dealership employee fucked up my car. The service their SUCKS! My car was never fixed Right and according to Todd he had his 20 year experience tech on it. Ya right .. Why it take two extra days then?

I sat down with Stephanie Goldstein who told me on the phone to come down talk to her and she would buy out my car.

Well she changed here story after I told here I contacted the Attorney Generals office. She wanted to trade me into a 03 wrx wagon that was in at least Three accidents . I know because I knew the driver of that car.

Anyways I went their for the 08 STI . Just wanted to see what type of Credit situation I was in.

"I used to sell cars for Metro  Ford ," My First month I sold 20 cars and missed Salesmen of the Month by one unit Gross by five bucks"
Anyways I stood in the main door for Five minutes, Looking to the right I see a salesmen on the computer and he looks over at me .

I mention the 7000 off and No IDEA.  another salsemen Oh STI THIS and that and bla bla bla.. NO NO NO I ask about it again and tell them about it.  After I show them on their own computer the threads and links and websites , they goto the salse manager and hes like Take it for a test drive and yes its 7000 off . Woot at least one fucking person here knew about it.

Took 1 hr for the Damm guy to run my credit. That's all I wanted to do in the first place was have them check my credit and make a determination. I figured it would be different like Six years later but I guess I was wrong.

It seems like they have a mix of good/helpful and lazy/not helpful people there.

The question is:  are you feeling lucky(punk)?   :|

This is where I got my forester...  sales experience was so so.  I will give them credit for tracking down what I wanted about 2 weeks quicker than expected.  What I did find strange was that my original sales guy Arthur was mysteriously "no longer with the company" in the 4 days it took to find my car...  Now I used to work at a dealership so I know turn over is pretty common, but it was kind of a turn off to go in to pick it up and have the guy that picked up my deal not know anything about it - all the 'extra' parts I was supposed to get - wheel locks, cargo net, etc were not installed....

So I took delivery 12/1 and I had put about 3 grand on it and was thinking I would take it in for its first oil change because I was going to PA for the weekend and it needed a bath (yeah, the free car wash - I had low expectations but it beats doing it myself only to get dirty on a road trip).  So it's Thursday afternoon and I'm getting ready to leave work in Troy and head down.  I call just to make sure they're going to be open by the time I get there (couldn't remember their hours) and the girl says yup they're here till 7 for oil changes. So I think ok great, I'll be there by 6 and have plenty of time.  So I drive down there and go into the service area where the guy proceeds to not acknowledge my presence for a minute or two (I was the only one there) before asking what I want.

I tell him I want my 5k service here's my coupon, I only have 3k on the car but I'm going out of town and want it done.  He talks to me like I'm ignorant ("well the coupon is for the 5k service..." blah blah blah) and then decides to inform me that they only do these by appointment after 6!  So he breaks into this whole song and dance "there's only one tech" "I have people waiting" and then tells me well I can make you an appointment for saturday and we can just do the oil change which runs $31 and then you can come back at like 5800ish and use the coupon for the whole service or we can just use the coupon then and you'll just be off on the miles.

I flat out told him that if it was going to be such an inconvenience for him to help me I'll just wait until it gets closer to 5k to come back and that the only reason I was there was b/c of the coupons (that I paid for) and the supposed lifetime warranty otherwise I could have been in and out of any other service station by now and for a lot less than what he told me they charge.

So now I'm torn.  I'm definitely going to use my coupons but I dunno if I want them doing anything major to my car even if it means losing out on the lifetime warranty....

went smooth today - an hour for the service is kinda overkill but whatever.  And LMAO when I got in after the "wash" and the dirt/salt/road crap is still all over front & rear windows... so could have done better w/ just a garden hose!!!  Oh well, Will was nice and I'm no longer as disgruntled a customer as I was a few weeks ago.

Good to hear that they're at least trying now.  Keep an eye on your paint, some car dealer washes do a ton of damage, just sort of rub the dirt into your paint.
