South Of Albany Meet Round 2

Decided that last year was a good turnout...to make it a yearly cruise and eat meet!! I am going to come up with another route this year but some of the roads last year we will go on again.

We will meet up at Thatcher Park Overlook i'm going to make it a little earlier this year, last year we cut it a little close to dinner, if i remember right!

I wanted to meet there at 1-1:30 sharp this year and hang out and head out no later than 2:30-3!

Idip will be meeting a group also: "My offer to take people up to Thatcher Park will stand from last year. This year, I will not be doing an hour long scenic drive up there (it'll be a pretty direct shot up), but I will take people up if they don't know how to get there. The meeting point will be either Crossgates or the parking area off I-88 I met everyone at last year (this will be determined closer to the date of the event based on who all plans to take me up on my offer)."

As for coming into Thatcher Park, WATCH YOUR SPEED, the limit is 30 and you need to stick to that, the police are very bad when it comes to speeding in there!

For bathrooms there will be none for the women coming (sorry, until dinner) so take your tinkles before you come, for gas make sure you at least have either a full tank or 3/4 tank, we really cannot stop for gas as there are over 20 cars possibly coming...

Dinner: Albany Pump Station:

Idip's work garage is near the Pump Station which will keep our cars out of the general population. He will be talking to the PS as the date gets sooner, to see if we can get the upper room (this is reserved for larger groups). If he is going to do this, He will need to know a headcount no later than the middle of the week before the meet to let him or me know.

Weather: We are going to once again avoid crappy weather, dates will be changed if rain is in the forecast!

*WARNING* this is not a place for street racing or any illegal conduct during the meeting, cruise and dinner...i posted something like this last year...we didnt have a problem at all last year and id like to keep it that way...there will be places to go above 60 but please we'd like to have fun and keep doing this, we dont need police trouble or anything of the sort...again i know alot of this group and there shouldnt be any problems but i need to let this be known to others

What's everyone's thoughts on dirt/seasonal roads?

Also, if anyone doesn't really know how to get there (it's not difficult), I'd be willing to meet people somewhere and take you up

maybe even for dirt/seasonal you could do a pre-run with people that would like to do so...for those who dont just do the main run!?!?!

there was a cop last year sitting almost across from the overlook, didnt have much of a problem though...surprised even for all the exhaust noise that we contributed to 

yeah schoharie is fun, i hit some roads in kingston on my way up from florida that would be a blast seems just a little too far though unfortunately

and theres another good reason to avoid nasioc, kind of unfair

I was thinking pump station this year for sure, for dinner...problems with parking there?? never been

we do also need a consensus for the date..so guys chime in and let me know its going to be on a sunday reguardless!!

Parking should be no issue - my work garage is open on weekends, and we can all pull in there to stay away from the general population. It's right next door, less than a 5 min walk (actually had lunch there today). There have been a few times that the UNYSOCers have met there to go to the Pump Station and walked, so they can attest.
