Aftermarket intake manifold selection...sheetmetal
« on: February 23, 2009, 04:44:18 PM »
Well....my build is reaching completion.
Only have one last thing to do.

Thinking of replacing my stock intake manifold with an aftermarket one. Everytime I type in "Intake manifold subaru" I get ej257 intake manifolds.

I have a ej257 bottom end with ej251 heads. Does an aftermarket intake manifold exist for the sohc ej251 heads? or shold I just stick with my stocker.

only one I know that exists is skully's from rs25.com:
Thing looks amazing!!! If it is my only option, might have to save up and get one.

AMAZING LOOKING HUH. CUSTOM MADE!!!!

Don't the 257 intake manifolds work on the 251 heads? Maybe I'm being naive but if the EJ25D DOHC intake manifold can work on the SOHC EJ251 long blocks with nothing more than elongating the bolt holes then I'm not sure why the 257 manifolds wouldn't work on the 251 heads in a turbo application.

Cool looking custom intakes though.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

I have a magnus intake manifold that I'll be selling. I'm not sure if it'll work on your set up or not though.

I bet Cosworth spent more time on R&D with their intake manifold than all the other vendors combined.

In all likelyhood, it is better.  But, you'd better believe you're paying for it.  For Cosworth, I'd be all for it.

The main reason I don't buy Cobb products is that I refuse to fund their 'R&D' with that fancy R35 GTR of theirs.   :?

From the nasioc thread   8-)

Quote from: BallPeenHamr
The first batch of 10 Cosies should be shipping out before months end:

I have a few cosworth parts in my engine and they are very high quality.  The price of their intake manifold is not outrageous compared to the other aftermarket intake manifolds on the market.

Cobb is a great company and I've heard (from a very reputable source) that they are looking at setting up an east coast tuning shop in the NJ/CT/NYC area
