new to this site 04 wrx project
« on: March 24, 2009, 04:37:05 PM »
well hello all im new to this site and the subaru game in general, picked up my first subaru a couple weeks ago,got it off copart and am in the process of fixing it up.i wasnt planning on doing any engine work when i bought the car i was hoping the engine would be mechanically sound and all i would have to do is bodywork.
needless to say when the car was in an accident timing on the passenger side exhaust was about half a turn off. so i bought a new belt and set the timing hoping for the best, the car now runs but ticks bad on that one side of the head,so im sure some valves are bent,so now im in the process of ripping out the engine and replacing the valves.

heres some pics of the car when i got it

im very happy that i found this site and alot of you are local in case i need some help someday.
looking forward to events this summer,i live about 10 minutes outside of Utica

When I got under my car to look at the exhaust it was the same. Everything was fused together. Some of it had to be cut.

Welcome to the site, looks like some1 pulled it to make it look alittle better too.. That sux about the timing and valves, I should have mentioned that when you were looking at them. That usually happens when they get hit hard enough in the front.

Looks like you are making good progress. Now that you already have it open are you going to put in forged internals?
