As far as the paint goes, I will have to see what I can get my hands on that will hold up to the abuse of the door handles.  Not only are they a high traffic area, but since they are plastic they flex some when pulled on, so I'd need something with a flex agent built in.  I might just have a body shop do them at some point, some guys on my350z.com have gotten both done for $100.

Ah yes, so did I.   :wink:  The bimmer is definitely a huge douchemagnet.  And i thought the pricks were supposed to be on the INSIDE.

Actually everyone Ive met still driving the older bimmer like yours have been pretty laid back.. I think many are hippy-ish pot heads, that drink alot, but are still quite intelligent and will chat with anyone.

Cant speak for the plasti-dip, but I used duplicolor vinyl and plastic paint and it hasnt rubbed off or cracked yet.  I did my shifter surround and since its very short, my hand is always on it.  Dont know about the water proofing, but you could also use some clear coat to protect it.
