[How-To] Install an STI TMIC in a WRX...a little more in depth

I have been contemplating doing this mod in the very near future. However, there is a tiny bit more to doing it if you want the result to be perfect (no bent AC lines, leaks, etc.). So I thought I would go ahead and put a copy of it up on my site at www.wrxinfo.com and put this note on here so that anyone interested in doing the same mod, won't go ahead unprepared.    Either that or I am just looking for excuses to shamelessly promote my site...you decide   jk

thats interesting...i bought a USDM sti tmic with the stock sti y pipe and it was direct bolt on with no rubbing.

none the less...another great write up

really?  I've ALWAYS heard you have to bend the A/C line to make it fit

my A/C lines where already bent...maybe the previous owner once did it and then went back to a stock tmic but when i put on the sti tmic i had no fitment issues at all

i will be doing this in the near future.  if i get a hold of a camera, i can take pics while i am going through it.  i can already tell you that my 07 has pre bent ac lines, and i am the first owner.

my 04 has pre-bent lines and i know for a fact has never seen an sti TMIC

the 05 intercooler went on no problem without new hoses, however it did need a little persuasion to line up correctly with the brackets. the brackets for an 05 sti and my 07 wrx are the same.  there appears to be no rubbing or fitment problems. the only minor issue was that it took a lot of effort to slide the elbow onto the turbo outtlet because it was a little short, but it does go with a little muscle. i ended up buying the elbow and throttle body coupler from stylin motors because i didnt want the elbow to slide of the turbo outlet.  with an extra 1/4 inch extension on the throttle body coupler and an extra inch onto the elbow towards the turbo outlet, it fit like a champ.
