It's mostly personal opinion, because both are amazing cars.  I would just prefer a STi.

They are both awesome cars... the handling on the Evo is amazing, the seats are a little rough and the clutches are crap... The STi is alot more comfortable, and I like the Impreza body over the Lancer body style....i feel better in a suby so im a little biased... I like the shifting better in the evo... Maybe at the next meet i can have my good friend bring his evo and he can give some ppl a ride... Other than that they are pretty much on the same track, it comes down to Rally heritage pride...

so whos side are you on? lol

Well, seeing that I haven't driven either car, I can't really form an opinion too much. I will say, I don't like the 'aura' behind the EVO8. another bad thing is it's a mitsu....it's fugly (imho) altezzas are corny as fu*k
the STi is just 'WOW'...love the look, the stance, the color selection, the interior..the 'aura' behind it...but most of all...it's a SUBARU, BEEOOOTCH!!!

Im just happy we got either of them. The fact that we got both is even better.

Remember, there wasn't really any semi-affordable sports sedans before the WRX.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Alright, I am sure the EVO is nice but the poor display on 2Fast to 2 Ferious  was terrible. With STI and WRX in the only in the rear of some of the shots was pathetic!

But I do have to admit I have some understanding of what skyphix
wrote.

I had an EVO 8 before the STI for about 10,000 miles and I had first hand experiences on sitting on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck...  about 4 times is enough!!  but than again when my EVO was working properily with the 1st transmission, (not my fault it blew  ) it was roughly the same as the STI.  I like the features that are in the STI better than the EVO but I liked headlights, spoiler, and the fact that it came with speakers, floormats, and a rear windshild wiper better.  But... the shifting sucked, no cruise control, no DCCD, and it drove like a tank.  And the overall out come is... THE STI KICKS ASS!! I wouldn't buy anything else other than a subaru. :D
