The 'new school' of driving involves taking the shallowest drift through turns that require sliding.  This is done to minimize exposure of the tire sidewall to debris.  LAME and boring.

The FIA, who runs the WRC, just suck.  'make a formula cheaper and easier to enter?'  How about banning SMG's and making everything manual transmission again?  How about banning 9,000 tread compounds and just having like 7 or 8?  Or how about requiring stricter homologation standards.  The Citroens and Peugeots, when stock, don't have AWD, and depending on how far back you go(206) did not even have turbo options.

just watched rally portugal.  A subaru is back with a driver that can actually challenge the leaders.  Gronholm is driving a Prodrive Subaru, hopefully the next rally will be better

investigating this further, it seems like that because Gronholm rolled, he retired again.  i guess he came out of retirement just for the rally Portugal for Prodrive to show the potential of the Subaru.  Prodrive is talking with Gronholm to have him come back for rally Poland and it sounds like he is going to do it!

How about banning FIA.  The rules are biased toward a particular layout and configuration.  Subaru had a winning formula and the only way to knock them off the top was to render their vehicles illegal.  In so doing, they tore the heart out of WRC and provoked the departure of not just one but several manufacturers from the series.  In any other business in this world, that would've gotten management fired.

I'm in wholehearted agreement here.  I think I'd rather have no rally, since we don't get to watch it anyway.

The Pinnacle of modern rally cannot be econoboxes.   :x
