Ebay clutch flywheel kit
« on: October 24, 2009, 09:54:37 AM »
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350237461903&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I need a clutch.  A few guys over at saab92x have these and they seem to like them.  What i was wondering is if there is any sort of down side to having a lightened flywheel?  Is this something thats going to fail prematurely?

I bought this kit and its going in my car early next week i hope.  I'm going to do most of the install work being minded by my mechanic friend in his shop after it closes.

Opinions?

that flywheel weighs 12lbs. which should be fine.  i ahve heard/read other posts on other forums of lighter flywheels that shatter but that should be fine.  The car should rev quicker but might also get a CEL coming on.  Driving style might be affected alittle like learning to launch or just take off because of stalling or whatever

Clutch is is and i really need to relearn how to take off again.  i have to me much more gentle esp. during my break in miles.

I can tell its going to be awesome though.  i really can't wait to put my foot in it.  8-)

Well I just recieved this kit in the mail today.. Jesus that clutch is like 1/8th of a inch thick on both sides I figured it would be thicker..  :uglystupid2:

I am going to sell my 800 dollar guitar to a guitar shop tommorro for 150.00 to help with the install money. Kinda sucks but I need the money.  :tickedoff: Don't matter I don't play anymore anyways..

^  well you gotta do what you gotta do.  I wish i was in the market for a guitar, oddly enough i play my piece of shit bass more than my flying v these days.   :-(

i think you'll like the kit once it is installed.  I'm finally starting to drive mine a little harder after about 900 miles now and i like it very much.. torquey and fun.

It really upsets me to sell it, I don't have much left to sell to get the money for it, I will have a perrin lightweight crank pulley for sell soon, So that should help a little for Christmas, I am gonna start looking for a Part time job next week  :buck2: Just what I need.  :tickedoff:

Hope so, looks like maybe the second week of Dec I will have enough to install it. 550.00 they told me. I just had to move the car to a spot closer to our door, and it being 20 degrees outside, OH boy that car hates me. Wish this shit didn't happen when I needed the money the most.
Looks like I am gonna be rolling on corded tires for winter..  :buck2:

I am gonna scrap a about Five motors I have in the shop tomorrow, 20 pounds of copper a piece in them, Wish copper was still 2.50 a pound < I think its .75 cents now.

What the hell is that extra Red bearing for, the F1 flywheel comes with one in it?

What bite where you talking about?

Will the car stall if it is just idling? Will the car stall every time you push in the clutch? Guess i will figure it out once the shit gets put in the car.

the bite is just from the new clutch material not transfered to the pressure plate yet.  NO the car won't stall at idle, i just mean that since the rotational mass of the flywheel is now 1/2 you'll need to re-learn how to take off or "launch" again.  i had to at least.  One of the reasons for the heavier flywheel stock is for easier feathering of the clutch disengage.  Its going to be a little choppy (for lack of a better term) at first but you'll get used to it as i have.
\
I'm at 900 miles on the new clutch and it feels great!  I hit wot in 3rd coming home from the llama farm this afternoon and HOLY shit is all i can say.  My car is waayy faster than it was with the  stock flywheel and stage 1, according to butt dyno anyway.

good luck with the work situation.. i just took out a classified add in my local paper offering snowboard and ski waxing to put some extra $$ in my pockets this season.

I'm not sure what that extra bearing is for.  I didn't use it because my flywheel already had one in it.  I think its for the stock flywheel if you are not replacing the flywheel too.  it would make sense to replace that bearing as well with the clutch and pressure plate.  It was in the clutch box right?

AH yea Geoff, that makes perfect sense..

I just got 136 bucks for three motors. Copper is back at 2.00 a pound   , Now just gotta go sell my guitar today and i will have the money i need for the install  8-). Then I can get back to paying to the people I owe money too.

Can't believe I am selling a 800 dollar guitar for 150.00  :-o
But like I said I need the money.
No work today,, Booo and i got a flat tire on the van at the scrap yard.. thank god a maintenance guy was their and helped me switch out the spare.
now i gotta somehow tell my employeer I got a flat on the way to a call somewhere, and wash all the mud off the truck..LOL

Ahh  i see what you are talking about now with the flywheel. I thought you would have to keep the clutch in a little bit so it wouldn't stall the car.

Glad to hear your car is running great.. I am speculating  I will have alittle more power as well and I am eager to feel it autoxing next year.
