Solo 2010 mods
« on: December 12, 2009, 08:49:32 PM »
So, ladies and gents, what are you all planning for mods for next season?

Some fat wheels and tires (5Zigen FN01R-C's in matte/satin black), a Megan Racing Catback, K&N filter and dyno-proven Joe-Z intake pipe.
And a class jump.

Edit: Non-racers, please feel free to post as well!

Whiteline Com-C camber plates
RCE Black springs

That'll put handling mods at the following:
Turn-In Concepts Fender Cowl Braces
Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit (Sport)
Whiteline 24mm Adjustable Front Swaybar
Whiteline 22mm Adjustable Rear Swaybar
Whiteline Com-C camber plates
RCE Black springs
Camber Bolts (rear)
Custom alignment
Kartboy Subframe Lock Bolts
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires (245/40/17)

I don't think I want to compete - that ALK would kill me in terms of SCCA class. Do wider-than-stock tires bump your class as well?

Wider than stock wheels bump me out of stock, but the tires can be as wide as can physically fit on a stock sized rim.  I'm sick of changing my tires at an event, i'd rather change them sometime the week before and back the week after, if I must.

Actually, i'm pretty sure ALK actually bans you from SCCA Solo, period.  You'd have to ask someone more familiar with the exotic mods.  Byron, wanna chyme in?  As an aside, my brother wants to run meth injection on his '87 Grand National...I should really start spending his money for him.

it's past SM.  I'm thinking XP.   That's where I'll be if I swap my STi subframe and if I put the ALK on the wagon...

I'm a little confused here... I think idip is talking about ALK=anti-lift kit not alcohol injection like your aside is mentioning. In any case you can run the meth injection system but it has to be water in the reservoir.. no alcohol. I have to drain the 7's meth tank and refill with water between Mohud and RPI events or street driving.

If I can ever get the soobie running at 100% I'd like to do a bigger turbo, injectors and tune for this season... but the wiser choice for the money would be to tighten up the nut behind the wheel with a little skip barber action.

For the RX-7:

Parts I have but havent gotten around to installing...

Poly suspension bushings
New Clutch
Lower-mileage transmission
12psi wheel for the supercharger
Turbo II side skirts + R-magic rear half bumper things (inner ricer coming out)
Oil pressure/Oil Temp gauges

Parts I need...
Standalone ECU (Probably Haltec)
Bigger injectors
Light-weight Flywheel
Leak-free powersteering rack
New Differential Seals
Pinion snubber

We'll see if I can get around to any of this... or if I just keep running it all into the ground lol

Catback got her a day early.  It's pretty but damn it has one of those big ricey tips.  Oh well.  New for 315 bucks, can't go wrong.

350Z -
Possibly catback, though having a hard time finding one that doesn't sound raspy/tinny
i pulled the cold air intake off because they notoriously dont provide gains with the vq35de
plenum spacer
front/rear sway bar
possibly springs if i dont do coilovers for a slight drop

I've already ordered some parts, I'm just waiting for winter to be over to put them on. I'm a little confused about the ALK as well, It is one of the things im going to order, and I hope that you guys were mistaking anti lift kit for alky. I don't see how that would bump your class. I have group n engine mounts, a rear diff mount, pitch mount, and rce yellows. I still have to order my sway bars, camber plates, wheels and tires (i'm ordering 18's..I know not the greatest for autox but I love the look), my anti lift kit, and my kartboy shifter with bushings.

IIRC, the bump due to the ALK is because you are changing a suspension mounting point.  Its been a while since looked into this so my memory might be bad.

If you're doing it for fun, not a lot of difference.  Even looking at the PAX, D Prepared isn't bad compared to SM.  XP is rough though.

I dunno why, but every time I see ALK, i think alcohol injection....sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

I don't think so.  An aftermarket LSD is allowed to be used to replace ONE diff on an AWD car in STU, a lower class, so SP shouldn't care.
