Need your help choosing picture for car contest!
« on: January 11, 2010, 11:39:36 PM »
Ok guys so as you all know I love taking pictures of my car, so I'm entering it into a contest on RS25.com. The theme is "precipitation" (snow, rain, etc.)

So I've been staring at this picture for way too long and I can't really tell which looks good anymore. So I need someone else's opinion.

Here's the original:

First try:

Final Product: I think this looks the best but let me know

Do you guys think the final is edited to heavily or do you think it's good?

ANY criticism is appreciated, good, bad or otherwise :-)

Thanks guys!

Wayne

I would suggest taking another photo.. Those lines across the picture are distracting to the eye... find a different back drop and do the same thing..  :uglystupid2:  Something like this..

something where the backdrop effects the overall theme.. Then you win..  :coolsmiley:  Add your contrast touche and bamm!
You could always photo shop them out
BTW It would look a lot better without the lines  :| IMO

I like the final product pic with the snow whipping and the ironic Florida sign.

Snow entering Florida??  Definately a cool pic, but I agree with Photofixer.  The phone lines in the background draw your eye away from what is intended.  Is there any way to edit the lines out?

Thanks for all the tips so far, you guys are awesome

Marty, are you referring to the small white lines or the power lines?

The white lines throughout are from the snow blowing.

I'm going to see if I can clone out the power lines. I'll try an edit with muted tones too.

Anyone know any good spots in the Boston area for some action shots?  :-)

Thanks again for all the input, I really appreciate it.

Wayne

i think the last one looks best, especially if you can edit out the powerlines.  my eyes keep going back to them too.

personally I wouldn't touch the power lines.  I love the way it lookes with the horizontal lines on the left and angled on the right, like it's sitting in the corner of a ring ready to lunge.  I thing that, combined with the blowing snow, give the feeling of motion/action where there is none

ctt- those action shots are sick! I need to find me a cameraman.

Sans power lines, also not processed as heavily:

Thoughts?

I think you should teach me how to photoshop that well. Nice job, it does look much nicer with the lines removed.

Thanks guys! I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I would have liked to take some action shots but it is what it is.

darroj - It's not to hard to do. Just spend some time playing around with the spot healing tool. It's fun making things disappear
