COBB AccessTuner Race
« on: February 01, 2010, 02:40:13 PM »
anyone here familiar with this?  I don't spend much time with the tuning stuff, I have an OTS map and I leave it at that....but I stumbled across this, and might need to be turning off some CEL's for a TGV delete soon....it appears like this allows that, I just want to know if anyone here is familiar in case I run into any problems?

If it's anything like Romraider, there will be a "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" section.

Romraider has a window that pops up with a checkbox for "Enable XXX DTC" (or something to that effect). Uncheck that, and voila

that would be nice.  here I've been worrying with cutting the stupid bar in half that connects the TGV motor and sensor, wasting time, effort, and blades/bits thinning that thing down...thining there was no way to delete codes with a AccessPort.  Maybe I'll just do the full delete after all :D

Romraider goes one step further with a "TGV-Delete fix" which automatically disables all CELs (I believe there's 10) associated with the deletion with a single click

I believe I mentioned the Off the Shelf experience level here?  :-P
I have nothing other than an AccessPort at my disposal for the time being

I'm just saying - AccessTUNER may do the same ;)

When you get the software installed, take a look at what options you have for editing the ROM.

I'm not ready to ditch the accessport completely yet, just wanting to disable these codes with it while still using a Cobb map for now

As far as the  TGV physical work goes, I bought a spare set to delete...I'm gonna have them installed at the dealership when I have my leaky gas line recall done....no way I was gonna rip it apart and do it myself otherwise, not for the amount of work to small gains ratio  :buck2:

hmmm, might be able to work something out.  I paid $100 plus shipping for the spare TGV housings I bought, I was planning to just resell my set for that same price and let the next person resell theirs, and so on and so forth.....but I could probably rent out my set to you, then resell yours later, depending on how long you plan on having them in between.  I'll pm you, it's gonna be a little while yet before I get in to get the work doone, still waiting on a few more parts

back on track, found some interesting news on the AccessTuner Race software....according to one of the guys at Cobb, it's the exact same software as what the professional AccessPort tuners use, only difference is you can only use it on one car.   Apparently the software is specific to the AccessPort serial number, which is why you have to submit a form with tat info and wait for a download link.
Kinda lame if you ask me, considering the software is free, and it only edits maps.  You still need an AP to load the map to the car, that should be enough to satisfy them that everyone using it is paying for the AP's  :idiot2:
